We need prayers!

Please say a prayer for my little Marty. He's been sick all morning. He threw up several times when we first woke up and he has awful diarrhea which also just started this morning. Should I take him to a vet after class or should I wait and see if it goes away? I'm just so scared. He's never been sick before!

I don't know what to tell you to do. Maybe call the vet and ask their opinion if you should take him in or not. I'll be praying.

P.S. Thanks for the VERY nice PM!!!

Has he eaten or gotten into anything unusual? If not, then I would call the Vet first. He knows his history and age. Depending on his size, I would probably withhold food for a few hours and then let him have just a little to see if that would help. No sense letting them keep on eating if it's gonna upset their little tummies.

Diana and Janet, thanks so much for the information! He woke up even before Brendon and me today because he was sick. I just felt so sorry for him! But he's still very active and playful and he hasn't had anymore problems since then. I'm going to give the vet a call right now and ask what I should do. I've already taken his food away, I was afraid he would get sick again.

I don't *think* he has eaten anything unusual...but I guess it's always possible...

Thanks for you concern Gina. He seems to be feeling just fine now, but the vet wanted us to bring him in anyway so we have an appointment at 3:30. I'll keep you updated.

Reuger gets sick every once in a while. I'll wake up in the morning to him heaving (an awful sound) and in a little while he's back to himself. I've never taken him to the vet for it because he never acts sick. I'm sure that everything is fine it's just that they are so very small that it scares us. Let us know what you find out.

Sully is concerned too! Let us know how the appointment went! Hope it went well. Sully has been sick before, and it breaks my heart (not to mention it's gross) lol. Hope Marty is feeling better and gets back to his happy little self ASAP!

Angie,

Please post as soon as you can. I'm sure he's fine, but we all need to know that we can stop worrying about your baby.

Thank you guys so much for your concern. Marty has been feeling fine since this morning. He's been normal and playful and hasn't had anymore problems. I called the vet again right before I was supposed to go in and they said that since he was still doing so well, I didn't need to bring him in. (It would've been pushing it to make it back to class on time...where I am now so that was a relief.) They said to just keep an eye on him and if he gets sick again, to bring him in immediately. I'm so glad to have my puppy back to his normal, playful self!!

Again, thanks so much for caring.

Soooo glad he is doing better. FYI, and for future reference, our vet told us to bring them in if they have both vomiting and diarrhea, especially if they are small, and it's not stopping. A few hours can make a huge difference for the smaller ones.

That's what the vet told us too, but he only had one instance of diarrhea and he vomited twice. That was in the morning and there had been no more problems by 3:30 when his appointment was scheduled. They said since it had been several hours that he was fine, just to watch him carefully. Thanks for the advice though, I will definitely keep that in mind next time!
