Absolutely heartsick
While I was asleep last night (3a.m.) my son came home from work. He saw Moses begin to lift his leg in the house, so got angry and forced him outside. What he didn't do is put him on his cable. Moses hasn't been seen since.
I've called all around, drove and walked the village, made Joel go look for him, my dd Katie has been out searching for him, and it's like he evaporated. This from a dog that hates to leave my side... that has severe separation anxiety when we're apart. A dog that hasn't wandered off at all before. I simply do not know what to do. Please pray that he'll show up and be ok! I know you all understand what he means to me. What makes this nearly unforgiveable for me is that a couple years ago I had a gorgeous border collie that I loved dearly and she died when Joel did the same thing with her! She got hit by a car right in front of our house and died instantly. Wouldn't you think he might have learned by that?!?!

OMG Tink, i am so so so very sorry to read this My heart goes out to you, i know how much he means to you.
Maybe you can put up flyers everywhere, leave some at your vet, and at the local rescue. Also at the schools, kids like dogs, maybe someone found him, and took him home. There are still honest people out there, Tink. Dont give up!! You, are in my prayers, and please keep us posted!

Thanks ladies
We live on the edge of a tiny village of "maybe" 100 people. I was born and raised here and Moses has been my constant companion for the past year. I take him with almost everywhere I go, so he and I are a fairly well known pair in the area. My vets office sees only 3 standard poodles... Moses who is apricot, a black and a white, so they said if they get any calls about an apricot, they will call me. There are only 29,000 people in our entire county... so it's mostly little villages with miles of highway and backroads between. I"ve called the local humane society, and outlying vets offices and they've not heard anything. He's unique enough that they'd certainly have no trouble recognizing him if they do. I'm hoping he smelled a female in season and went calling... I can't imagine anything else that would charm him into wandering off. Im just worried sick and praying hard.

I'm so sorry to hear that Moses is missing . I know that you're heartbroken over his disappearance. I would get a notice in the paper about him missing and offer a reward, oh, and I would put a picture with it. It will alert other people that he's missing and maybe whoever has him will be more likely to call about the reward. Good luck and I'll say a prayer for his safe and quick return.

I am so sorry Tink!!! Our Chipper runs out the door quite often but we have always caught him immediately. I can't imagine not knowing where he was all night. I am praying that he will be home soon safe and just happy to see you.

Tink, on YorkieTalk, some suggest saying that he needs medication. Seems like people are more willing to go the extra step for an animal if he/she's sick. You might try it.

UPDATE: HE'S Back!
Thanks to my wonderful husband, Moses just got home. He's filthy and hungry but seems fine. THANK GOD!
Greg was out looking for him this morning on foot and thought he could hear him barking but couldn't see him. He decided to do a bit of tresspassing on our NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS lot and found Moses down in a pit right behind their house. He was about 7 feet down in a hole where their well is UNCOVERED. There's a ladder standing in the hole so Greg climbed down and carried him out. The neighbor across the road said he noticed the neighbors kids over there yesterday looking down into the hole so they KNEW he was in there and had said nothing to us. We've had nothing but trouble from that family. as you all know! Greg said right away he'd bet they were involved, but I didn't want to believe it. I just have troouble imagining anyone can be that evil! I wish they'd all just rot and fall apart right now. SO thank you all for your prayers... they worked and Moses is home safe leaning against me looking like a dirt ball as I type.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY that IS great news!!! Tink, i am so happy Moses is home safe, and sound!! Thank goodness your husband went out, and heard him bark, poor baby must have been a nervous wreck.
BTW: what a couple of nitwitts have you got living next to you, good grief... how can people get it across their heart to pull something that evil?! That is plain disgusting!

I am so glad Moses is home safe!! What if that had been a child fall in that hole. Those people still wouldn't care. It may take Moses a while to feel safe again. It probably has been close to a year that Chipper was traumatized and he is just now getting completely comfortable. Just takes a lot of love which I know Moses will get plenty of. I guess Hubby deserves extra hugs today which I would bet he's already gotten.

So glad he is home people can be so cruel with animals will you speak to your neibours about it?.
My daughters cat went missing for two months they gave up hope of finding him when one day out of the blue got a call from a vet about 20 miles away saying he had been handed in fortunatly he was micro chiped, we now suspect there neibours had taken him and dumped him. |

I had to run to pick up puppy food etc today and while I was gone the neighbors wife came over demanding $157 from my husband for damage to their pump! I missed all the excitement!
Now if they knew he was in there, WHY didn't they tell us? Greg lost his cool and told her to leave... where to go and that he wasn't giving her any money since having that cover off is a danger and zoning violation. So she left, went home and called the police to come out. LOL The officer told them they have to have that cover on UNLESS they're directly working on the pump/well and have to be in there. So they put it on, and then claimed they'd been working on the pump for the past 3 days steady which is why it was off. So Greg pointed out the dead grass under where the cover had laid OFF the well all summer... pointed out that the hole wasn't big enough for the dog AND the man to be in that hole while he was working on it (Since that's what he claimed) and the officer noted that in his report. We did get a warning about the dog running loose, no fine since it was a first offense... and were told the neighbor has gotten fined because HIS dogs run lose and locals have been filing complaints about them. The officer said they also complained about us putting up the fence... so Greg showed him we'd had a legal survey done to know where to put it so are safe there, and explained that it was to keep OUR dogs in and theirs out. Greg was able to show the officer the cable we chain Moses to when he's out, his rabies tags (which the neighbors dogs do nOT have) and the officer just advised us to keep our dog home. He did say they'll probably try taking us to small claims for the money; but if they do I'm just going to countersue for the plants, welcome mats, boots, and so on that their dog destroyed here this past summer. I know our homeowners insurance would pay if we submitted their claim, but see no reason why we should have to. I'd rather fight them in court than give them anything. The officer also advised us that if the neighbor comes back on our property (since Greg has told them to stay away) we should call and press charges for criminal tresspass. The local cops know the neighbor all too well. They've had to arrest him several times for possession of pot and meth, breakng and entering, dui, battery, and so on. We've seen him lead out of his house in cuffs more than once. Greg was just shaking his head that they were whining about not having water thanks to our dogs damage... yet as soon as the officer left, they were outside hanging up wet clothes on the line. HUH? And they wonder why we put up a fence...

Tink, I'm so glad that you got Moses back!!!! I had wondered if the neighbors had anything to do with it but, like you, I hated to think the worse of them. It sounds like they are nothing but TROUBLE and I wouldn't hesitate to call the police on them if the need arises. I'm glad that your husband was there to point out some problems with their complaint! You better keep that guy a round!!!
