OK. So now that everyone has vented at those rotten men we live with... get the book Sugar Busters or any in that series from the library. It's the quickest way to safely lower your cholesterol with diet and does not involve anything crazy. Our MD put us onto it years ago. My husband's cholesterol was dangerously high as was his blood sugar. We went on sugar busters and in 6 weeks he was hight normal and normal on them and lost 16 lbs without ever being hungry. I lost weight too - side bonus to cooking for a family - it's easier to make one set of things to eat! lol

There might have been some paperwork signed by you along the lines that allowed the doctors to give your husband information. That's just a guess though and you could make a phone call and they should be able to let you know if he's on the "individual allowed info list" or not.

I know in the past at doctors I have signed many forms allowing my husband to be given any health info on me if needed, etc.

Anyway - Good luck w/ finding all the helpful info in managing your cholesterol. Luckily they have so much information out there now to help. I'm hoping you and your doctor can find the best program suited for you.

Good thought, rivermom. I have signed those forms too, to make it easier in the case of emergency.

It would be different if a doctor's office had given him the information. There probably would have been a form she would have signed, but the insurance person??? That's part that I think is wrong with what happened here.

Cinnamon lowers cholesterol. You can sprinkle it on lots of foods and never even notice, even chili or a subway sandwich. That's how I got my cholesterol under control. Simple and cheap, so the doctors don't mention it to you. I actually found out about it from an article in Reader's Digest.

Hey everyone!!! Hi Sheryl, I really need to get back here more often...lol

I think it's terrible what the insurance person did. You need to call and find out their policy. Now as for your husband....just like Judy said...Men. She's very wise ya know. I think all men should come with a 'D' ring on the back of their neck. That way when we don't need them we can hang them up out of the way and when we do need them, just take them down....mine would never come down!

Cinnamon is good for insulin control but the fresher the better for the benefit. It is best to buy the sticks and grate your own.

When you make more insulin than you need, as when you eat high fructose corn syrup products, for example and your body responds to the high amount of glucose, the extra insulin tells the liver to make triglycerides, hence you end up with clogged arteries and weight gain even if you are not eating fats. Sugar Buster's books explain it very well.

So when cinnamon helps with insulin control, esp important for people with diabetes, it is also helping with triglyceride control...
