I'm so Clumsy......
I was fixing supper last night and slicing up some yellow squash. I was in a hurry because I already had the fish frying and I ended up slicing a big chunk out of the end of my thumb. It really hurt when I did it and bled quite a bit. In fact, it's still bleeding a little bit but it's not bad enough for stitches but, man, I sure took out a good chunk. That's what I get for sharpening my knives and being in a hurry!!!

Ouch! I've tried and tried, but can't seem to hold my fingers like the TV chefs do. Haven't we all done the same? Glad it's gonna be OK.

It's not throbbing but it does keep trying to bleed. I'm so aggravated at myself for even doing it!!!

Did a piece come completely off your thumb? Ouch!!!!! I've cut myself plenty of times and the pain is horrible. I've been lucky though...it's been quite some time since I've cut myself...I'm either getting better at it...or not cooking as much.....LOL...I think it's the latter...

Diana, are you sure you don't need stitches? Mike cut his finger a few weeks ago. It wasn't very big, but it was deep. We couldn't get it to stop bleeding (blood thinners) and he ended up getting 5 stitches plus one on the inside. If it keeps bleeding you might get it checked out.

I have a flap of skin barely holding on. I left it on there to try and keep it from bleeding.
Betsi, it's deeper than the first layer of skin but I don't think that stitches would help anything. I have a couple of band-aids on it with neosporin. It's not hurting unless I bump it and then it bleeds a little. I'll be fine......I cross my heart!!!!

I changed the bandaid last night and really looked it over good and it's starting to heal. I think that the flap of skin is going to go ahead and grow so hopefully it will heal faster than without it. It's not bleeding anymore either. So it's looking pretty good. Thanks everyone for your concern!!!! I love you guys!!!!

The flap of skin is good - it's like natures bandaid! Leave it on, even if it doesn't adhere and you eventually take it off, it will heal underneath the skin. It's like a blister - if you leave the outside skin over the blister and just drain it from the side - it will heal underneath the skin and then the outside skin will just come off, and voila - it is healed!
