Janet & I

are up early on this fine Saturday morning.

I was up at 6:00AM on this fine SATURDAY morning! And I see Janet posting at the same time too! Janet, are you on Central or Eastern time? Shouldn't we be sleeping later on Saturday?????

Actually, I'm always up this early as I have to little Yorkie boys, who shall remain unnamed, who always get me up between 6:00-6:30 everyday, because they think if they don't get their wet food during that time each and every day, they shall, quite literally, dry up and blow away from malnutrition. So, they romp and stomp me on the bed, till I give up and get up and feed them. On the weekends though, I often sneak back to bed for a while after the daily "feeding" routine.

This morning however, I am watering the yard. We are on stage two water restrictions and I can only water on Saturdays. I have 3 big trees that I water every week as the drought is so hard on them and I sure don't want to lose them. I can only water before 10:00Am and after 7:00PM, and to get everything watered that I want, I have to start this early (I don't have an automatic sprinkler system) So, here I am dragging around hoses to get my trees/grass some water!!! Ah, the life.....

I don't think it's unusual that I was up early....just unusual for me to be on the computer that early. I had my mom on my mind all night so I didn't sleep well. I knew she was going to have trouble with the machine last night and she did. Don't know what happened, but she called me in and we called the machine manufacturer (Baxter) and they walked her through it.

Hopefully everything will run smooth for her tonight.

Wow! You two were up early. Janet is on eastern time, I believe, because I know when I was there my time was all messed up. I stayed up late and slept even later!!!

I didn't know that you were cut back on when you could water, Gayle. I remember you mentioning it but didn't realize that it had been enforced. I sure hope that you don't lose your trees. A drought can be so hard on trees and bushes.

Janet, I'm so sorry that your Mom is still having trouble with the beepers going off. I'm sure that with time all of this will get straightened out. I know that you both are fustrated by everything. Hugs!

My husband woke me up at 8:00 and I was so mad at him!! I didn't say a word to him but I really wanted to sleep in a little while. I wasn't going to get it done because we had a house full of kids. Oh well, I got up, left Glen making breakfast for all of the kids, and I went to the garage sales!!!

Gayle, I can so symphasize. Zoe gets me up at 6:30 on Saturdays for the same thing. She wants to go out and wants her breakfast. It can be so frustrating, but I too go back to bed most of the time, if I can go back to sleep.

We're still on water rationing, too. Hubby is the one at our house who waters the yard and the trees. He's managing to work within the restrictions and keep things green. Or mostly green. There is an edge of the yard that looks a little brown.

My magnolia tree died. It was a birthday present about 5 years ago. I love magnolias. Don't know if the drought got it, or something else, but it's definitely dead.

I'm so sorry your magnolia tree died - especially since it was a gift!!! I think we will be fighting hard for several months, maybe even years, to overcome this drought!!!

We went out to lake Travis yesterday and it is heart breaking to see how far the water is down. The bottom of the boat ramps are at least 10-20 feet from the water. There is a huge island (that's not supposed to be there) in the area where we were. It is just terrible!

One of my uncles was here over the weekend from Texas and he was talking about how low Lake Travis was. He said that they had shut down the ramps because they were so far from the water.

We were in Nebraska a few years ago and saw Lake Mcconaughy. The water lever was low like I image that Lake Travis is. We drove down a boat ramp that was still very far from the water. Later we saw where some farmers had their tractors there. They were pulling boats across the sand and backing them into the water because the sand was so dry that the vehicles would have gotten stuck!

I just checked on Lake Mcconaughy and they are still low. They have extended some of the boat ramps so people can get their boats to the water!! I read an article that started like this "Yes, we still have water......"

I honestly can't imagine having drought conditions for as long as you all have. I think I would be go crazy. I hope it ends for you all soon and the rains come and make all green again.
