Flaky Pie Crust Recipe

We sold pies one year at church in our women's group and this is the recipe that we used for the crust. It's always flaky and is very easy to work with. I tossed out the recipe that I had and this is the only one I use now. It makes making pies a lot more fun when you know that the crust is going to turn out good.

Pie Crust

4 c. fFour (not sifted)
1 3/4 c. Butter flavored Crisco (I usually just use plain ole' shortening)
1 tsp. Salt
1 Tbsp. Sugar

Cut the flour, salt, sugar, and shortening until fine.

Whisk these together:

1/2 c. Water
1 Egg
1 Tbsp. Vinegar

Add the liquid to the flour mixture. Blend well. Form into 2 balls, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight. Roll out as usual. Makes 2 - 2 crust pies.

(If you don't need that many crusts or if you want you can make them ahead you can freeze them. Just let them thaw a couple of days in the refrigerator before using.)
