WHEW! What a week/day!

This has been a horribly busy week at school, not to mention that we are frantically getting ready to be gone for 2 weeks in the travel trailer.

Well, to top things off, Gary called this afternoon, frantic because he decided to replace the GFI plug (the one with the button that pops out if there is a power surge and so the plugs that breaker controls - usually the bathroom plugs - don't work. About a month ago, on a Sunday, it popped out about 4 times. I was going to call an electrician, but it never did it again, so of course, I forgot.

Well, it started doing it again last night, so Gary decided to replace it today before we leave on vacation. As he was doing it, the electricity went off in half the house- so of course, he thought it was something he did. He immediately called an electrician who came right out - only to tell us it wasn't us, it was the neighborhood transformer. The reason half the electricity went off was because it was only getting half voltage from the transformer. So, $100 later, we are calling the city electric company.

It was a blown transformer and they just now got it replaced - 7 hours later. Yes, we have been loading the trailer in the dark!! We hurried and did as much as we could before it got dark - but continued loading as best we could after dark. The electricity just came back on at 10:15 PM. We'd hoped to leave very early in the morning, but will be a bit later due to 7 hours without electricity!!!

The funny thing is the neighbor was trying to fix his ceiling fan when 1/2 of his electricity went off and so, just like Gary, he thought he messed up something. He called a friend of his who is an electrician! LOL! But HE didn't have to spend $100 to find out it wasn't him. How ironic is it though, that both guys were doing something that MIGHT have caused an electrical problem at the very time the electricity went off.

I don't know when I'll have internet access, but I'll check in when I do. I'll miss you all!
