A different perspective
I worked with a different manager today, and got a very different perspective on my new job. I had been stressing because I wan't doing as well as I want to be in certain areas; but after working with this woman, I realize I'm not doing so bad! She's been a manager for a year and I caught her making a couple of errors that I had to straighten out. LOL It was refreshing to see that I'm NOT the only one who finds some of this stuff confusing! She was very complimentary and reassuring and I feel I gained a lot better sense of things from working with her.
My manager is going to be taking a 4 week paternity leave, so I will be working with this woman and/or one of her associates while he's gone. I'd been a bit worried about how it would go, but am now less anxious after this experience. As much as I do like my usual manager, his style compared to this womans is like night and day. He is very exacting and is somewhat of a perfectionist. She is more relaxed, yet every bit as professional. I'm thinking I might benefit from the switch-up in that I can work with both styles and see what actually works best for me. Since I'm to be 2nd in command in our branch, I guess it's ok to develop my own style a bit and I'm hoping to find my comfort zone somewhere in the middle of these 2.
