Start my job tomorrow!!!

I've been having some immigration issues since I've come to Canada, and been without work for a while. Been going insane too! Well it's funny how things happen!! I got a work permit today and will be starting back at work tomorrow!!!! So stoked. AND my mom and sister are coming to visit me in a few weeks! Oh life is great. Here is the entry from my blog if you are bored enough to read it!

Jumping for Joy!!!

It's funny how things fall into place. Just as I begun to feel desperate about my dwindling bank account, I received a very unexpected email from my former employer. It was positive news regarding my *approved* LMO (Labour Market Opinion-prerequisite for the type of work permit I originally applied for, proving to the government that as a foreign worker, I am not taking a job away from a Canadian and that I am qualified for the position). Without delay, I called CIC (Citizen and Immigration Canada-the immigration Gods) to see if I was eligible to obtain a workers permit at the 'port of entry' (the border) and after talking to two different people, I was almost convinced that everything was going to be okay. The alternate to going down to the border was mailing another package off, with the very likely possibility of watching a few full moons come and go before I received anything back.
"Okay so the worst that happens is I can't come back for a while...I'll just drive down the coast and visit a few people I know..." This is one of the many things that I told myself. Ryan ended up driving me (my coastal drive could have been jeopardized, but Greyhound surely came through the border there) and comforted me. Possibly, he's the sensible, realistic one, and I am the one with the overactive imagination and worry gene. Yes, it's definitely a gene, I inherited it from my amazing mother.
The border line up was lengthy. It didn't take us long to get to the Canadian Immigration building, so we just popped in there. Waited in a short line for a long time. Was told I had to leave Canada and come back. I wondered over to the American side...weaving between dozens of cars hoping I didn't accidentally cross the border and get taken down by dogs. When came upon a trail of white footprints painted on the sidewalk, I followed them to the correct door, and much to my relief, did not encounter any dogs! It was a breeze on the American side, I don't feel nervous when I'm dealing with the American Immigration Officers aka 'my homies'
He stamped my passport and back to the Canadian side I marched, this time with a noticeable amount of pride as each foot came down on the pavement. Back in the same line I started in, I waited again. I answered a few questions, no problem, then waited while they printed up my work permit! I couldn't scream in there, but I wanted to! I start back teaching tomorrow!
