Same thing happened to me, I had to pay the $175. We switched to ATT and have had no problems.
If I cancel my Verizon combo I will NOT pay the fee, and they can't make me, don't care if they turn it over to the credit bureau, I am sure anyone would disregard it with the reputation they have.
I am so sick of fighting with everyone and everything, yes, no one cares about their jobs or are not trained.
