Gonna have to take this darn computer back to the dr again. I have viruses out the wazoo....lolol. I still use it, just don't send anything on it. I'll take it in on Monday so I'm not without it all weekend.

I'm thinking of looking at Mac's. I really don't know much about them except that you don't have to worry about viruses so I don't know. They are really expensive (for me) but I have some inheritance left. I wanted to use it for new flooring or a newer used car, so I don't know yet. Tired of taking it to the Dr. Any of you have Mac's?

Yep, Mac girl here and have been since 1989. Yes they are more expensive, there's no getting around that. But they are great machines. I did have a problem with my desktop last fall and had to get a new one, but it was 5 years old, so that was pretty good. My first one lasted 10 years and my laptop lasted 7 years and it wasn't broken, it just didn't have enough memory for the new operating systems and I had the max memory in it. So, it didn't break, just got outdated.

Also, I've used a Mac at my school since 1993 and I've never had one break, never ever. We get new ones periodically but they still use the old ones for students and the like. The Macs run like a charm and never get viruses. I did have someone hack my email and send out spam emails from my address, but it wasn't a virus, just someone using my email to advertise their product. All I needed was a stronger password.

Macs are incredibly easy to use, but people who are used to PCs say it takes a while to get used to them. I think Betsi went from a PC to a Mac, so maybe you could ask her about them.

Another Mac girl here! My boys and dil's all have Mac's and they insisted that I get one. I LOVE it! I have a 13 inch MacBook, the white one. It's perfect for me to hold in my lap in my recliner, lol! I have never had any trouble with it. I don't think it would be hard for you to use, especially since you have an iPad. Mine was $1000. and I have never regretted it for one second. They are SO user friendly

Do you like the 13 inch size the best? Right now I have a HP with a 17 inch screen and I love love love it. When I went to the Apple site, it shows just two different laptops....the MacBook Air and MacbookPro. I remember reading somewhere not to get the Air...do either of you know anything about that? What do you have and what size? I know absolutely nothing about the 'dual core' and the speeds. I don't want to spend over $1000, could a little bit, but don't really want to...lol. Do you think I should look at the 15 inch since I'm use to a 17 or I should I just get use to a 13?

Turned my laptop on this morning and it says that this version of Windows is not genuine. So...taking it in on Monday. I like typing on my laptop better than my iPad even with the keyboard. So much to think about and learn about. Not sure my brain can comprehend it enough to make a good decision.

Another question...do they have DVD/CD drives? What about USB ports? Can you use the same printers...etc?

I went from a 17 inch to a 13 inch, too. I thought I would hate it, but I love it. It's so easy to enlarge the print size, and its so light to have in my lap! It has a dvd/cd disc drive and 2 usb ports.

I just have a MacBook. I guess they don't make them any more. I'll ask my son which one he would recommend. We got him a MacBook Pro last summer. I'll see what he thinks users like you or I would need He'll know, he's a smart cookie!
