Janet, Your Thread Made National News!!!
CNN heard about your thread!! Just kidding, but check out this article.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/01/...ssa/index.html Looks like they are blaming Hillary. Does look like we are in for a nasty couple of years. I really am not looking forward to it!!! We need to keep our focus on here of being friends and not get too carried away over this. I'm talking to myself here as much as anyone else. I can get pretty passionate about some of the issues. I will work very hard to not go ballistic on here. If things do get crazy, we need to promise each other we will keep it in the Vent forum.

LOLOL Marilyn you scared me to death!!! I'm with you as to not looking forward to what could be a nasty campaign. I know MY focus is to not post anymore threads that could possibly become controversial AND I usually keep political views personal. Like I said earlier I will always search first before I ask or paste something like that again. LOLOL, matter of fact...I put a yellow sticky on my monitor that says....."Search first, may be controversial." I'm not taking any more chances!!! My feellings get hurt too easily.

Well here is my brutal honest opinion.
1. We do NOT need a woman president. There are certain parts of this world who don't respect women and just do not take us seriously. Plus I can not STAND her. LOL 2. I do not think that we need a president that is in ANY way connected to the Muslim religion. There have been so many lives taken by Muslims during this war. I think that having a president who will represent Muslims(even if it is only to them) will be a HUGE slap in the face! I have to wonder how the troops will feel about this. My opinion may not be popular among anyone here( and thats ok ! LOL ) but you can bet there are many others out there that probably feel the same.

First off, I'm not trying to start anything but I'm stubborn, opinionated, and a PoliSci major.
2. I do not think that we need a president that is in ANY way connected to the Muslim religion. There have been so many lives taken by Muslims during this war. I think that having a president who will represent Muslims(even if it is only to them) will be a HUGE slap in the face! I have to wonder how the troops will feel about this. 1. Barrack Obama IS NOT a practicing Muslim, he attended a Muslim school when he was a child, but that wasn't his choice, it was his mother's. 2. Saying he shouldn't be elected simply because there are Muslim connections in his background goes against the single most important founding principle of the United States, the Freedom of Religion. 3. Lives have been taken by Muslims in this war THAT WE STARTED, does anyone know how many Muslim lives have been taken? If they apply the same thought process then they shouldn't adopt the kind of government we're trying to make them adopt simply because we have taken so many of their lives. I think there's a reason we haven't heard any of those stats, I don't think the average American could handle it. Yes we've lost over 3,000 people, I blame Bush, not the Muslims for that, but as I said, how many have they lost? We don't know, but my bets are all in that it's significantly more than we've lost. There are radicals and extremists, and I'm not saying that Saddam should have been left to his own devices, I think we should have gotten him in the Gulf War, but we can't blame the Iraqi people for defending their homes, if a country came here and tried to take over and completely change our system of government would we roll over and take it? Goodness no. We'd fight, and so are they. 4. If you look at Obama, and what he stands for, discrediting him based on religious ties is a slap in the face to all the people who have died fighting for religious freedom, which I guarantee is FAR FAR FAR more than the number of soldiers we have lost in a war that, once again, we started. My opinion may not be popular among anyone here( and thats ok ! LOL ) but you can bet there are many others out there that probably feel the same. No offense to you, though you'll probably take it that way, but I certainly hope that there are not many others out there that feel the same. But then again, this is America, since when has America actually stood behind the principles we supposedly stand for?

Also, I just wanna say, I don't think a woman would do a bad job at being President, I'm willing to support anyone that stands for what's right no matter what their gender or religion may be. But I hope beyond all hope that Hillary WILL NOT be the Democratic candidate in the 2008 election. That woman would do so much harm in that position.
Also, since someone said that we're friends here so we should steer clear of the controversy, I think it was my mum actually that said that, but I feel whole heartedly that the women on here are my friends and my friends that I see everyday in person and I do talk about, and debate about, this kind of stuff in real life, so I don't see why I shouldn't treat you gals the same We just gonna stay civil

Nope. No offense taken. LOL I stand by opinion. I will say that I am a hard core Republican! LOL If a women who was a Repub ran for president she STILL would not get my vote. Sadly I still wouldn't vote for a Repub who was connected to the Muslim faith.
One of the MAIN reasons that I vote Repub is because of abortions. Someone correct me if I am wrong.... The Dems think that partial birth abortions are ok. I don't and think it is just plain awful. So needless to say I could careless who is running on the Dems side. LOL They still wouldn't get my vote. I told you I am very old school.

Well I am republican BUT because I am so fond of Barack Obama I would vote for him even though he is a democrat... I believe he can change this world and bring together the red and the blue like in the old days....

I'd be careful making such an important decision as who should be President based on just one issue. There is so much more at stake. From one concerned Independent.

I think that the Gov at times NEEDS laws like this. Can you imagine how things would be if we were allowed to do any and everything we wanted. I have always voted REPUB. I have no intentions of changing my mind now.Of course there are many other reason that I vote as a REPUB. Some of them would make for a very heated debate so I won't go into detail.

Well, as long as you do have other issues in mind when you vote GOP and aren't a single issue voter. Single issue voters can be dangerous as well as party voters...
Then again I'm Independant so I don't have to worry about party politics, I just vote straight issues. It's not about the party to me, it's the person.
