I am sore!!

Yesterday I decided to tackle the kitchen. My cabinets were getting so full of stuff it seemed. After watching so many shows of 'Clean Sweep' I decided to get the kitchen cleaned out.

I made at least 5 trips to the garage with stuff. Decided if I hadn't used it in the last couple of years, it was going out to the garage for a garage sale later this year. I can't believe how much stuff I didn't use or need.

It sure wore me out though, all that climbing on a step stool and bending down in the lower cabinets. Hopefully I'll think twice about keeping stuff I don't need...but somehow I doubt it....LOL

I sooooo need to do the same thing. Right now, I've started with the fridge. Our fridge just died, and I can't get it fixed until next month, so we picked up a second fridge to keep in the garage for $50, and in the meantime, I had to throw away a lot of stuff in there. It was actually nice to be able to throw away old freezer-burnt stuff that had been in there since God knows how long.

But my cabinets!!! My tupperware cabinet needs to get emptied out. I find there are only about 2 or 3 size bowls that I ever use for leftovers and such. I need to get rid of everything else, and only buy stuff in the right size.

I'm at the point where I don't even have anymore space in the garage. We need to have that garage sale. I'm going to have one at the beginning of next month, and I have Salvation army scheduled for the Monday after the garage sale. whatever doesn't sell, GOES!

Wow Janet! I bet you feel much better about your kitchen now. I think we are all guilty of keeping things we don't need or use "just in case". Lol. Since Bren and I just moved, I was able to do the same thing with my WHOLE house. It was exhausting, but well worth the effort.

Hope you are able to get some rest today. (And lots of puppy kisses, too!)

Good for you Janet! I really have to do that. Not in the summer, that's for sure!

Misty - I think Tupperware reproduces bottoms on it's own. Either that, or the tops go into an alternate universe. Either way, they're sneaky little things and should never be trusted!

I am proud of myself. I've been wanting to get it done for some time and just kept putting it off. Today I finished cleaning out the file cabinet and boy talk about trash!!!

Next I am going to do the computer room. I'm thinking of buying a smaller computer desk. Right now I have a big corner one and I really need more space. I just really like it. I just have to make the big decision...keep or sell.

After that I'll start in on my son's room and then the whole house should be done. Then I'll have to clean the garage and get ready for a big sale!!!

Dear Gina,

You know Janet isn't going to listen to us! She'll get it done!

I actually do understand. When you work for the Board of Education, which I did and Janet still does, you have a whole summer to do all of your chores. Let me tell you, those kids wear you out, and you just don't have the energy during the school year.

I can afford to be a big shot, now that I'm retired. I don't get anything done though.

Judy,
That is funny! That is what my mother tells me about laundry. That any two pieces left alone together will start producing more! LOL. It must be true

You can believe I'm listening....lol I really don't WANT to do these chores...they just need done. Even though I just drive a school bus and I'm off during the middle of the day there is only so much you can do.

I hate having to constantly watch the clock so I'm not late getting back to pick them up in the afternoon and I have to get myself cleaned up a bit before I go pick them up.

It's like you just get started, get a good momenum going and I have to stop. I've got to get as much done during the summer as I can...I'm just not in the mood.....

Janet, I hope you're feeling better again soon. I know it's hard to stop once you actually get the time and momentum going to do a major project, but it can wear you out to the point of not being able to accomplish anything til you recover and that time is SO misreable.
I wish we lived closer so we could share those big projects and keep each other from beating ourselves up in the process.
I hope your kitchen looks wondermous now!

I'm trying a little at a time to tackle our entire house. I need to work from the top roof ridge down. We've moved so often that we have boxes we've moved with us that are in the attic & garage that I don't know what is in them. I did clear out some shelves in the master br closet and go through that stuff a couple of weeks ago. And Janet, you shoud see my filing cabinets. There's stuff in there that I know is big time trash. All I have is a few minutes each evening, and Saturdays, but somehow I have to get it done!!!!

I know, isn't it hard to really find the time and without too many interruptions? My husband has been shocked with how much trash I've set outside the back door for him to take to the dumpster.

I'm just really tired of the clutter. I'm hoping to start in on the garage this weekend, so if something is too awful heavy, I'll have some help.

Janet I am doingthe same thing. I am taking one room at a time and cleaning walls and floors. I am trying to redecorate a little as I go. It is going slow since I work all week. That is one reason I haven't been on here much.
