Loans

I've been a student for 5 years and I have paid for it all on my own. The first four years out of high school i'm still considered a dependent to my parents, so I could never get a student loan, so I got myself a line of credit. My parents don't have the money to pay for my schooling. This year I was sure I would get a student loan. I have no income, and I'm almost $40,000 in debt. I'm in my last semester of school before graduation. I NEED the money. I haven't paid tuition yet because I don't have the money, I was just waiting for the loan. Well I got the paper today, and I'm not eligible. My car is worth $5000. Apparently I'm supposed to sell my car to pay for my school. I live 4 HOURS from my parents. I NEED MY CAR. I can't sell it anyway, I'm still making payments!!! Well not anymore I guess. I have to get kicked out of school and get my car taken away. I'm so upset I'm sitting here bawling. I can't get another line of credit from the bank because I'm already at my limit. I don't know what to do. I'm too upset to eat. I have to go back to class in half an hour and I can't stop crying.

Awe, sweetie! There is always more than one way to skin a horse! These are NOT your only options. Have you looked into FAFSA? When my hubby was in school, he was on student loans. I had a GREAT job, we both had brand new cars, but FAFSA paid for his school. Just research ALL of your options before getting too upset. I promise you that there is SOMEONE out there who will give you a loan for school. Waaaaaaaaaay too many people do it for it to not be possible. Cheer up! Don't sit there and cry....put all of your energy into finding another place to get a loan, especially FAFSA.

Unfortunately, I'm in Canada and we have nothing like that. Basically you get a loan if you farm, or are aboriginal or a visible minority. I am none of those. I knew a guy who was in one of my first year classes who drove a $17,000 car, lived with his parents, and had worked for the past 4 years, and he got all his schooling paid for by student loans. I made a lot of money on my 8 month work term last year, but I've spent every penny of it on my line of credit monthly interest. I just feel like throwing up right now, I am so shocked I didn't get anything.

I called my dad and he said he would put some money in my account today to last me for the weekend, and he'll see what he can do about the rest. I haven't asked for money since I was 15. I feel so bad about it. I liked being independent. My parents don't have the money for this though, they couldn't even co-sign with me for my line of credit.
I put a cold cloth on my eyes and put a little makeup on to cover the red, but I still look like crap. I have to go to school now though.

Don't worry....you can do ANYTHING you set your mind to, and I MEAN that!!!!! You will get your loans. You just have to be willing to put your heart and soul into it. With your record of success in school, and with being so close to done, if you look hard enough SOMEONE will give you a loan! I promise!

Chin Up And Dry Your Tears!!

I feel for you and I am sorry this day is somewhat gray above. Hang in there, I know it's not easy but where there's a will there's a way. Somehow things always work out even when we can't see when, where, or how.

I just applied for a bank loan, but I know I won't get it. I can't even get approved for a credit card! If I absolutely have to I guess I'll have to start selling my stuff... I could come up with half my tuition if I sold my treadmill and brand new drumset that I just had shipped up from arkansas in april
