It really is better to plant trees in the fall anyway Haley, early fall. Seems the summer heat can hurt them a lot more than the winter freeze. Just pile mulch up around them before winter to help keep them warm. We have maple trees and blue spruce evergreens. We use to have a beautiful willow tree, but the wind blew it down, barely missed the pool when whe had it. We also had a corkscrew willow, but the poor thing died. Not sure why.

Willow trees are beautiful, however I've heard that they love water so much, they hunt it out, so be careful not to plant near your or your neighbor's sewer lines. If there is ever even a very small underground break in the line, their roots will get in there and cause a big problem. This is more a problem for older homes with cast iron sewer lines because their joints are less secure than PVC.
Sounds like you have a lovely yard now. All you hard work is paying off!!!
