Actually Janet, you are right. Admin did say that.

I wonder if there's a difference between discussing a news story about a politician and debating a political issue. Maybe we need some clarification.

I can see how debating can cause a problem. You will never have 2 people agreeing. This topic was a news article. Maybe they could add a forum for talking about news articles. That would really be interesting.

THis is the reply that I received from the Admin regarding that thread.

"When threads are civil, no matter what topic, it is fine, but the Obama thread turned into a member or their family member calling Obama an Anti-Christ or whatnot. We just feel that when it gets to that level, nothing positive will come out of leaving the thread open. People feel strongly about their political and religious views, and arguing and debating on this forum will most likely NOT change their minds about any particular issue.

We received complaints about that thread and we agreed with the reported post that it was getting out of hand.

Thank you.

-Admin"

I don't see anything wrong with discussing politcal topics. As long as we do it in a civil manor I don't see a problem. I wasn't debating or saying anything negative. In my post I said that BOTH McCain AND Obama needed to display the flags proudly!
