I take several vitamins. I take the Magnesium, Calcium, and Zinc (it helps with leg cramps and restless leg problems) and the vitamin E too. I also take Vitamin A because I read that if you have night blindness that it will help. (We'll see!) I started taking a Super B Complex Vitamin and L-Carnitine and, man oh man, I feel so much more energetic!!! I don't know which one is helping me but I can really, really tell a difference. I also take a fiber pill to help control my appetite. It's called SlimStyles PGX.

My Mom always took a handful of vitamins and I always told myself that I'd never do that, but I find as I get older that I tend to gravitate toward the vitamins to help me with my ailments. I think that if I would be really happy with a doctor that used vitamins instead of prescriptions, at least some of the time.

I have heard that Vitamin E is good for infections too. That tip came from Tink. It worked for me. I think that we rely to much on Medicines. I know that some are really needed but I think others are used to quickly.

I take a Centrum Silver multi-vitamin every morning, but that's it as far as vitamins. I also take meds for blood pressure, gerd, thyroid and hormones. Which reminds me....I need to find that thread Tink had about an over the counter hormone.

Diana, how did you know what other vitamins to take and for what?

I was watching Oprah, which I can't stand, and Dr.Oz was on. I really do like watching him. He said that if you have a heart condition you should take it with your heart meds. I noticed a difference when I started to take it. My chest flutters calmed down even more when I took it with my regular medicine. Then I read online that taking Fish Oil is good for your heart and can somehow help you loose weight. Well I figured I would kill 2 birds with one stone! LOL

You can look on the labels and it will briefly tell you what they're good for. Also, you can check on-line. Here's a page with a few vitamins on it.

You can get books that also tell how to treat things with vitamins. My daughter has a book that she picked up at a garage sale and that's how I found out about night blindness and vitamin A.

It's not the Zinc, Dobie, but the Magnesium and it needs the Calcium to bind too to make it more effective. You could get by with a Calcium/Magnesium vitamin.
