Heeeeeelp! lol

I sent this email out, I am having such a hard time starting to feel the pressure lol...

Close your eyes and imagine the first dance as husband and wife (keep in mind this will be "our song"):

Unwritten Law- Rest Of My Life

Violent Femmes- Good Feeling

The All American Rejects- Dance Inside

Good Charlotte- Wondering

Sum 41- With Me

The Used- I Caught Fire

Newfound Glory- Iris

Oasis- Wonderwall

Originally I was thinking Rascal Flatts- My Wish, but Brad said he'd rather us have a song that was our personality/story/type of music that we've loved (we don't listen to country, this is the only song we really like)

OK, with the caveat that this is not my kind of music, I like Rest of my Life best, followed by With Me, Iris, and Wonderwall.

Is this going to be your "first dance" song at your reception? If so, I always think of the first dance as a slow (or slower) one. Some of the songs definitely do not have a slow beat, and I'm not sure how they would sound and you would look as the first dance couple.

It is true that it should be a song that you enjoy-but you might think about the "mood' of the day and how you want to set the mood.

Whatever you decide will be fine - it's YOUR day!

I agree with Gayle. I too think of the first dance as being slower and romantic but as Gayle said "It's your day!" Personally I would keep looking.

Did you guys listen to the words? lol

We wouldn't have a problem dancing to any of the songs I posted, and I posted them because those are the decisions at the moment. I am already having a hard enough time choosing from them!

I realize I am outnumbered here age wise, but these songs mean something to us. I plan on counting the votes.

I shouldn't be saying this but as it stands right now, our top three favorites to pick from are Violent Femmes, Sum 41 and Unwritten Law. Whichever of those gets the most votes, I suppose is the winner...
Sum 41 is so powerful, Unwritten Law is so sweet and Violent Femmes is so vulnerable and sweet. I love violins.

Thanks for the responses

Sum 41 "With Me"

I don't want this moment to ever end
Where everythings nothing without you
I'll wait here forever just to, to see you smile
'Cause it's true, I am nothing without you

Through it all, I made my mistakes
I stumble and fall, but I mean these words

I want you to know
With everything I won't let this go, these words are my heart and soul
I'll hold on to this moment you know, 'as I bleed my heart out to show
And I won't let go

Thoughts read unspoken, forever in doubt
Pieces of memories fall to the ground
I know what I didn't have so, I won't let this go
'Cause it's true, I am nothing without you

All the streets where I walked alone, with nowhere to go
I've come to an end

I want you to know
With everything I won't let this go, these words are my heart and soul
I'll hold on to this moment you know, 'as I bleed my heart out to show
And I won't let go

In front of your eyes, it falls from the skies
When you don't know what you're looking to find
In front of your eyes, it falls from the skies
When you just never know what you will find (what you will find)

I don't want this moment to ever end
Where everythings nothing without you

I want you to know
With everything I won't let this go, these words are my heart and soul
I'll hold on to this moment you know, 'as I bleed my heart out to show
And I won't let go (I want you to know)
With everything I won't let this go, these words are my heart and soul
I'll hold on to this moment you know, 'as I bleed my heart out to show
And I won't let go

Unwritten Law "The Rest Of My Life"

Am I the only one that feels alone
Though, all is home
Emotions flow
Am I the only one that hears the tears run down my face
Would anybody recognize at all

Cause I know
I'm so slow
But I'm tryin
And I'm still dyin to know
Say you won't leave for the rest of my

Life's the only thing that deals the pain
Like pouring rain down
Breeding hate
And I don't wanna do no wrong
My God, it's been so long
Please comfort me
Before I go insane

Cause I know
I'm so slow
But I'm tryin
And I'm still dyin to know
Say you won't leave for the rest of my life

I know
I'm so slow
But I'm trying
And I'm still dying to know
Say you won't leave for the rest of my life

the rest of my life, na na na na na na na na na na

I'm so stoned
But i'm tryin
And i'm still dyin to know
Say you won't leave for the rest of my
I can't have you leave for the rest of my
Say you won't leave for the rest of my life

Violent Femmes "Good Feeling"

Good feeling,
won't you stay with me just a little longer
It always seems like your leaving
When I need you here just a little longer
Dear lady there's so many things,
that I have come to fear
Little voice says I'm going crazy,
to see all my worlds disappear

Vague sketch of a fantasy,
laughing at the sunrise
Like he's been up all night
Oh slippin' and slidin'
What a good time but now,
have to find a bed
that can take this wait

Good feeling,
won't you say stay with me just a little longer
It always seems like your leaving,
when I know the other one just a little too well
Oh dear lady,
won't you stay with me just a little longer
You know it always seems like your leaving,
when I need you here just a little longer

You poor thing stuck here with an older generation...LOL. I'm glad you're here sweetie, so please don't let my 53 years run you off. You're a breath of fresh air!!

Before you even posted I liked the first one the best. I liked most of them, but again, not really my type of music. Now my son would love all of them. I really do like the very first one the best...the words are nice.

Diana...I loved those videos!!!

So - here' my input. I like the music in "The Rest of My Life" a lot. I love the words to "With Me." "Good Feeling just doesn't do anything for me. It's a little whiny, but if you love the violins.....

I'd have to say I vote for "With Me."

Out of those, I'd say With Me because I've always liked that song. I don't know if you're open to more suggestions, but my little cousin just got married, and they had Theory of a Deadman - All or Nothing as their wedding song, and I thought it was awesome. They're a really young couple and I just like the raw sound of the song. It's not really a super slow traditional song, but it was very THEM.

Thanks again for the input ladies, so far it looks like "With Me" is winning...
From the start, I guess you could say I had "the feeling" while listening to it, I could imagine us hanging on tight possibly cracking our goofy little inside jokes and grinning like fools, tearing up a bit!

He is not the type to do "homework" so learning a routine is definitely out! I got a huge kick out of a Dirty Dancing first dance myself a few months back because my younger sister and I used to watch that tape daily as kids while we "practiced" lmao

I like the words to "With Me" too.

I posted the songs just as an example of what you could do, not as what songs I thought that you needed to use!!! You could take all of those songs and mix them into one! Just use your favorite parts!

The Dirty Dancing song I thought was just hilarious!!! They certainly did a good job of copying it!!! I hope that you find a song that works wonderfully for you!!!!

Why don't the 2 of you spend an evening listening/dancing to the songs that you are thinking about - see if any of them seem to "fit" as the right one.

Pope,

How about laying out all your wedding stuff and taking pictures. I remember the dress, and the hat, but I'm sure you've gotten more stuff together.

It's getting close! I'm excited and so happy for you.
