I dented the.....
bumper on my husband's pickup!!! He took my car to get it washed so I drove his pickup to work. I had a doctor appointment on the way and the parking rows were pretty close together so I backed into the space. I clearly saw the light pole behind me, but what I couldn't see what the larger round concrete thing surrounding it about 3 feet from the ground up. So, while I was plenty far from the pole I was watching, I hit the concrete thing with the back bumper.
Bad thing is this is a relatively new pickup - we just traded an older pickup in for this one a few months ago. The older one had a few bumps and bangs and this wouldn't have been any big deal - but it was the FREAKIN' NEW PICKUP! I knew hubby wouldn't be mad, but thought I'd get a lecture. Much to my surprise he just said, "you know, I did the same thing years ago, but I was going forward and hit the concrete" So, I didn't feel as badly. The estimate was $550!!! But what can you do!!!!!

Gayle it happens don't be hard on yourself.. At least your husband was understanding. That is a good thing! My husband thinks that he is perfect and never does anything wrong, when he does he says it wasn't his fault.. Go figure! lol

Gayle...you're definitely not the only who has had this happen. Besides...trucks are made for the working people, not just to look good. Now it looks like it's suppose to!!!

Like I always say "Accidents happen!!" That's life! Sorry about the pickup and I'm glad that it wasn't worse.

I'm glad you weren't dented - just the truck! You have a great husband.

Gayle....I think you should put a little red heart sticker by the dent. I don't know if I would have it fixed or use the insurance money to go out for a really nice meal....lol

A red heart sticker. That's a great idea!!!!! If it were just me, I wouldn't fix it - but since my hubby is so darned particular about his truck, I guess I'd better!!!

Be sure and take a picture of the dent though....just for sentimental reasons.

Gayle, I was backing up to leave a convenience store parking lot in my company truck a few years ago, and did not notice that there were some yellow posts about 2 1/2 feet tall at the edge of the parking lot. I hit one of them pretty hard with the end of the back bumper. It bent the bumper so that it crinkled the side of the bed behind the rear tire. The whole side of the bed and the bumper had to be replaced. The company paid for it, but I had to call fleet management and my boss. The boss was sorta understanding. Then about a year later, he called me and wanted to know the proper procedure that I had gone through with fleet management. He had done the same thing.
What I'm saying is, it happens to all of us from time to time. When hubby was in the hospital recently, I parked too close to another car at the hospital and thought I'd better back up and move over a bit. When I did, I scratched the front fender of my newest company truck on the car's side mirror. No damage to their mirror, but hubby says the damage to the truck will probably be in the $500 range. It's not the type damage that requires reporting to fleet management. I'm planning to get an estimate and I may just pay to fix it myself since it was my mess up.
