Ladies' Day

Thank you for your very kind comments!! We were at the church building last night decorating and getting everything ready. The building looks so nice with all the flourishes. We're serving Mexican food, so one of the ladies had a Spanish class at one of the schools make tissue paper flowers for us. They are huge!! about 12" in diameter, so we used them above the doors in the building to add some color. It looks like Fiesta!!

I spent some time in the closet last night practicing what I will be saying this morning, and feel pretty good about it now. The one thing is, I'm among friends, even the ladies I don't know are my sisters in Christ, so they will forgive me if I accidentally say an "ah" or two. Will try not to though.

It should go off pretty well. We have some contingency built in just in case we start running too long on time or too short (don't think running short will be a problem.)

The men who were helping last night commented that when men do things they are so much simpler. That may be so, but our events are better attended, so there!!

The Ladie's Day went extremely well!! We had 158 ladies representing about 29 congregations. The head count is + or - one or two. It's hard to get a 100% accurate count. This is the best turnout we've ever had. We got lots of complements on everything. All in all, because we spread the work out with many ladies involved in the planning and preparations, it really wasn't that hard to put together. I'm going to get CD's of the speaker. I was able to listen to the first session, but was in the auditorium preoccupied with recording information from the registration cards to report to the group before we concluded, during the second session, so did not really get too much of it.

One phrase that I heard that really hit home with me is "mess causes stress". This is one reason we feel so good about being on vacation. The places we stay are free of all the clutter and our normal mess. We need to simplify our lives so we can live more contented. All of us on here have been discussing this very concept.

One of the ladies who was not as involved in all the preparations (she has two small children) made Melissa's birthday cake for me. We celebrated her birthday yesterday afternoon. Her real birthday was this past Monday.

All in all, it was a really wonderful day!! I'll try to post pics later today. We have both our girls and Melissa's hubby down for the weekend.

It was a wonderful day!!! I have pics downloaded & some burned to CD's for our church office, and for the speaker. I'll try to post some on here very soon. It's been a very busy week so far!!!
