Kind of Eerie!!
I was sitting at the table this morning eating my breakfast, looking out the window and the thought of being old and doing this alone, got to me. An overwhelming feeling of loss came over me. I hope I will not have to have my meals alone or have to live my life alone as I grow older. I called my mom, she is a widow and we talked for awhile, but then she was going out. I don't know how she does it, but it brought a whole new meaning to me about how sometimes at meals and bedtime, she says she gets so lonely. I know I will do what I can so she doesn't feel that way often. An awful feeling...

I hear what you're saying. At some point, our kids will be grown & gone & it will be just our spouses we are with.....provided we are lucky enough to have one. I think people adjust to their life's situation. My MIL is alone (divorced rather than widowed) & I swear she is always on the go with a full social calandar. She is very involved in her church & has friendships with others who are alone at home. This doesn't mean she's not lonely on those nights she is eating dinner at home alone & I try to remind that to myself when she sometimes stops by at inopportune times.

I have a whole new respect for those that are alone. I don't know why that just happened to come into my thoughts. From where I was sitting at the table, the side yard was so pretty, sun is shining, but this great sense of eating alone and sadness crept all through me. Some are alone I know, by choice and that's okay. Like you said, some have very busy, full wonderful lives, but it's the coming home to an empty house, eating alone, no one to say goodnight or I love you to before going to sleep. It makes me so sad to think about.

I try not to think about things like that. It always depresses me. But, HEY! I know what you can get your mom for Christmas...a LAP TOP! That way, she can be on the computer in the evenings in her bed and chat with us!

Oh, I couldn't do that....LOL Then she would know all my secrets. Besides, we would like to get my son one for Christmas if the funds will allow it, don't think they would allow for two.

Oh Janet ~ You won't be alone...You will have all of us still. As long as I still have my eye sight and enough brain cells to log on, my online chat's will forever continue.
