Our yorkie, Chase, has weight issues. He's supposed to weigh 5 lbs, and he fluctuates between 8 and 9 lbs. Chase had a serious health problem a few years ago. We believe he may have been an early victim of the melomine in pet foods. We had him on a different food than the others because he was gaining a little extra weight. He became sick with vomiting and dirrhea that wouldn't stop. The vet we were using was not helping him, so we took him to another vet. He was very lethargic and one very sick puppy. The other vet ran tests, and Chase was severely dehydrated and his kidneys were shutting down. The vet insisted he must have been poisoned, but we don't have poisons in his environment other than cleaners and such and the other dogs were exposed to the same thing. A few months later the recalls began on pet food and the one Chase had eaten was on the list. He was on special food after he came home from the hospital for a while.

He eats normal food now, but since his illness, weight had been a real problem. He needs more exercise. We try to restrict his food, but it doesn't seem to help. All I can offer is sympathy.

So hope Gucci's weight gain isn't caused by anything serious!!

Well the vet. finally called me back yesterday with the blood results. Everything is NORMAL .. yaaya. I have to give her a less amount of her l/d wet food and see how she does in a week. Gucci had the liver shunt and its best she stays on this diet in which she is doing well. Thank God.. I am relieved, thanks for all your well wishes...
