Spring Wildlife

I have a finch sock outside, and the finches are turning golden. They feed all day. When I walk outside in the morning, the different bird songs are so beautiful, it seems surreal. I hear a couple of woodpeckers nearby too.

I opened my front door a few days ago and there was this fat old porcupine near my porch! I was so excited, never having seen one in person. I closed the door real fast though!

Just before, there were 2 fat medium size birds sitting on the railing of my deck. Yesterday, I saw a crow picking up a small mammal and flying off with it, and had to slow down for a rooster and a dog.

When evening comes, I hear the crows sawing, and that's when I lock my door!

I'm so glad you are truly enjoying your new home and new surroundings. I love the wildlife where I live also. I often stop the bus on the way to school so the kids can see wildlife they've never seen before. Awesome...huh?

We see more wildlife in the cooler weather around here. When it's hot, they are hiding until it gets dark. I saw a squirrel scampering across the golf course behind our house a couple of days ago. Does that count for wildlife??

Well, that sweet old porcupine came up on my porch during the night and chewed on one of the wood slats! I hope it's not nesting under my house.

I emailed the condo people. I think they have to get rid of it. So much for cute wildlife enjoyment!!!

I don't think I would want a porcupine near. Be my luck we get the needles or whatever they're called.

There are TONS of birds near my house. I love it...except for the fact that we can't sleep with the windows open cause they start being loud at about 4 in the morning. But I do love having dinner on the deck while listening to all the chirping. We have a nest under our deck and one in between our gutter and the house. I think they should be hatching pretty soon.

We enjoy the wildlife that around here too. Glen's still keeping the birdfeeders full so we have lots of birds to enjoy. We've even had a couple of turkeys that have come to feed. I was going to get pictures but it just hasn't worked out. Judy, I keep a bird book and binoculars nearby because part of my enjoyment is identifying the birds. I keep a list of all that I've seen at my birdfeeder.

We also have a gray squirrel that comes as well. We have a lot of the redish squirrels but only a few of the gray ones so they're special to see. We can hear the coyotes and fox in the evenings and sometimes they sound way too close to the house!!!

My DIL has pictures of a groundhog that showed up in their yard. I didn't know that they could climb trees!!! They're a lot bigger than you would think that they'd get.
