Cabin!
We didn't get a whole lot done on the cabin on my week off, but it's a start! Here are the pictures I took!
My dad already had the new floor put in the living room... here it is the first day 035.JPG The dreaded wallpaper wall 036.JPG The kitchen 037.JPG The kitchen again 038.JPG

Wow, looks like quite a project!!! You will stay slim and healthy doing all that work. What are you going to do with the wallpaper wall?

Yeah there are TONS of cupboards! And almost every one had some little gadged screwed to the inside knife sharpeners, magnet bars, even a can opener that swung out!
It'll take awhile for everything to be done, but my parents are spending every weekend out there working. After working so hard on that wallpaper wall, my dad went into the city to buy some cheap wood paneling to put up overtop. We're painting everything, including the end wall that is already covered in panelling, so at least it will look the same. On the wall just outside of the kitchen, we are putting in a new wood stove. My dad bought paneling that looks like fake rock for that wall... i usually don't like the look of paneling but I think the rock stuff looked really nice! Our plan for this year is to get the kitchen, living room, and bathroom done. We'll also need to put a new chimney up for the wood stove, and cover the hole where the old brick chimney went through the roof before the house was moved. We'd like to maybe spend Christmas out there if we can this year! Next year, they're going to put new vinyl siding on, and work on the bedrooms and completely fix the second floor! My mom calls it her "20 year project" lol

Lindsay! That is a GREAT house - I can't believe that you all moved it to your place. How far did it travel to your land? That's so cool.

I don't know exactly how far it moved, but I think it was around 35 miles. The mover said it was the heaviest house he's ever moved.... 33 tonnes due to the lath and plaster construction

I think that it's neat!! I love the fact that it's a family project!! I wish that we had time for something like that!!! You'll enjoy every moment there because of all the memories that you'll have of working on it together!!!
