Janet, my husband uses tools all the time. Since I've started using the "girly" ones they tend to stay in the house. Before I got them my tools would all disappear! I also buy the cheaper ones because my husband needs really good quality tools. He knows that mine won't hold up as well so he avoids using them.
Mine are good quality, but my husband and son have to ask to use them, I keep my toolbox locked and I'm the only one with a key. That way I know what goes out and it better come back, they are not allowed to take them outside. My husband needs good quality tools too. He does auto body repair. He really doesn't need too many new ones now, he's been doing this for about 38 years and he takes great care with his tools, they are his livelihood.

My mother always had a toolbox. I put one together for myself, and whenever I went to get something out of it, what I needed was missing. Someone had gotten into my box. I found the items put them back, but it kept happening. Finally the box completely disappeared. It had to be elfs or something, because no one in my house would admit to even knowing the toolbox existed & definitely did not take it .

When my mom go to the point that she could not stay in her home and moved to assisted living, I got her toolbox. Some of the items in it had sentimental valve. I had it maybe a month. No one in my family got it either, but the box itself is in our garage with a variety of nuts, bolts and screws stored in it.

I gave up. When I need something I go to the garage and hunt. If I like what I find, I hide it in a drawer in my laundry room or bedroom. Forget the toolbox. I have a few select items where no one will bother to look.

I have several things I'm happy I have:

1. A music box my grandparents received as a 50th wedding anniversary present almost 40 years ago.

2. A lucky horseshoe that my grandfather had nailed over the door of the house my mother was born in - it's all rusted now but I still have it.

3. My mother's Mothers Ring - I had my boys birthstones added to it

4. Silver Dollars (in bank safety deposit box) that my grandfather used to give us for Christmas and birthdays each year - my mom always took them from us and gave us a dollar bill.....we didn't know until we were older that she was saving these for us Although I can have them now - I've told my mom to keep them. It's in her will that they are in the box and she has them seperated in bags with each of our names on it. All I'm going to do is turn around, divide them between my boys, and put them back in the safety deposit box.

5. And last, but not least in importance, complete family tree history on my mom's mom side of the family and partial family tree history for her dad's family. It is very interesting to find out where my ancestors were from.

I guess you can tell from my posts that I'm extremely family oriented when it comes to preserving history and things. I've always been like that. Hubby calls me a "pack rat" - I call it saving things for my kids or grandkids

My late husband's wallet. While he was alive, I NEVER went in it, and when he died I had to. I never knew that he carried a special picture of me that I had made several years ago and also some of my sons from a previous marriage made when they were in grade school. (We started dating when my youngest was 5 years old - he's 27 now)

I also have a Select Comfort Air bed and my husband and I really like it. It was kinda' expensive but it's suppose to last twice as long as a regular mattress. Well worth the money!!

I'm back, decided to actually answer the question.

My favorite thing(s) are my Whirlpool Duet front loading washer and dryer. They have transformed my life as much as something like appliances can. Before I had small top loading Maytag washer and matching dryer. The front loading huge set that I have now will do so many more clothes at one time. It has made a big difference in how quickly and efficiently the laundry can be done. I do half as many loads as before. Awesome machines!!!!

After I reread some of the other posts here, I thought I'd better add my computer and my Yorkies and Golden Retriever.

I would love to have the Duet front loaders, but that will have to come in the distant future. I've heard they are the best!!!

I would have said my Yorkies, but it's hard to think of them as things. I don't really know what they are. They are some type of mystical magical creature, semi-human that seem to cast a spell over you. They are certainly not dogs or something common like that.

Never heard yorkies be described like this, but this is definately the best description anyone can give! Mystical magical creatures that are semi-human and cast a spell over you! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Marilyn, do you care if I put this in my siggy on YT?

No problem, Rebecca. Have fun with it. I've been telling folks this for a while now. There are lots of nice breeds of dogs, but there is just something incredible about Yorkies. Zoe and I have such a unique relationship. I've never had a relationship like this with anything that wasn't human.
