Finally Over!
I guess it's time to move forward, even if we wish time could stand still for just a little longer.
Except for Monday through Thursday, while we watched my MIL slowly succumb to cancer..Thurs., Fri, and Sat. went really fast. Everything had to be scheduled quickly because of out of town relatives needing to get back home. MIL passed on Thursday morning, viewing was Friday evening and burial was yesterday afternoon. I was frightened to see her Friday eve at the funeral home. She was unrecognizable in the nursing home. But the funeral home did a wonderful job and she looked like the beautiful MIL I remembered her to be. She was just sleeping. To look at her laying there, no one else could see the struggle she had endured those last few days. The service was beautiful and the minister spoke truthfully and reverantly about Vivian. It was all so touching. Thank you all for all your prayers during our family's struggle. I appreciate it so much. You know that now days the furneral homes offer online condolences, well I want you all to know I printed out all the kind words you've posted and the well wishes so all my family could read. You all helped them as much as you've helped me. They all thought "what a loving group of women I had for support" and they are right. You all mean more to me than I could ever express. Thank you.... Love....Janet

I know you've got to be worn out. Were you able to rest any last night? And how is your husband doing? I'm glad the funeral home did a good job with Vivian. I think it makes it easier on the family to have that last memory rather than the one from the nursing home.
Take care Janet. |

I did get rested last night, thank you Kim. Rick is doing good. He's one of those that will have his moments in the days to come, but keeps busy. When I got up this morning I saw a list on the table of things he needed to get done today and tomorrow. That is how he handles things.

Janet ~ I hope now that a few days have passed and you've had some time to rest, you can begin to reflect on the happier more special moments you've shared with your MIL.
To me, I always feel comforted knowing that I don't ever have to completely let go when I experience a loss. The memories stay within my heart and bring joy. I to hope you can start to live all that.

Janet, you've been through a rough few days this week. This week should be a "Take care of Janet" week and you should really take some time for yourself. Losing someone is so draining on our emotions and makes us feel so tired and worn out. Just take a few extra moments to rest or nap and baby yourself so you'll be rested and ready to help your husband with his loss.

Thanks ladies....it really has been a rough few days. Today I spent it cleaning the kitchen, doing laundry, reading a few posts online and then Lynne called and we chatted a while.
It's funny that even though I didn't just lay around and rest...just getting back in the normal routine helps. We have tomorrow off from school, besides being the holiday, it was a snow make-up day for us and well...since we haven't missed any school because of snow...we get to stay home. YEAH!!!!
