What do you think of Rudy?
I received some campaign information from Rudy Giuliani, who is running for president. What are your opinions about him and his running for president?

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is the strongest Republican in the race to be president, according to polls. But most insiders dismiss these numbers, pointing out that Giuliani's views on abortion, gays and guns do not fit in with a conservative electorate.

He will not be getting my vote, if he gets that far, which I seriously doubt. I'm an independent, so I try to look beyond party affiliation. This said, it appears that his only tie to the Republican party are his ties to big business.

I thought he handled the World Trade Center attack with great form. I don't know much else about him. We are registered as Republicans, but I vote for the best person, not by party. It never enters my mind to vote by party. Still have a while to gather info on the candidates, so I'll just wait and see.

I haven't watched enough of him on T.V. or listened to him to make a fair judgement. I just posted on here to raise my post count. LOL, just kidding!!!
Seriously though, as Janet says, there's plenty of time left to hear what all these folks have to say then try to make a good decision in hopes for the best outcome.

Rudy Guiliani was mayor for two terms in NYC. I lived there in the begining of his two terms. He was an excellent mayor and brought down the crime drastically and cleaned up Times square, which was full of porno shops etc. He lowered taxes , etc. I was out of NYC at the time of the WT attacks but he led the city in that terrible time. Rudy Guiliani is a strong leader and I have nothing but good things to say about him. He was a proscuetor for the DA for many years. At the time he took over the mayoral position NYC was at its lowest, he was voted in for the two terms. So that proved that people did approve of him. People will always have negetive things to say, but he is very strong over the Republican party here in the Northeast. He proved himself in NYC, thats all I can say.

I have heard that after 911 people were very impressed with the way Rudy held things together.
I have also heard that a lot of the police and EMS workers felt they got a really raw deal due to his leadership in matters pertaining to the after affects of 911. I think like with anyone, you're going to find those who love him and those who really do not. I plan to vote the issues. For me, Rudy is out based on his stand on a few things. I'm not a republican, but the only thing I see about him that really speaks of being republican is his tie to big business and money. He comes across as more of a democrat in many of his opinions.

I was courious what others thought because I was impressed with how he handled 9/11 but didn't know much else about him. I guess we'll be hearing a lot more about him and all the other candidates later on. Thanks for all of your responses!

Although I don't necessarily affiliate with any party, I do usually vote Democratic simply because I prefer their policies on domestic programs and their attention to the social well-being of society.
That being said, Rudy will most likely NOT be getting my vote. At this point (though it's quite early), I'm leaning towards Barack Obama. He seems awesome!

As a New Yorker who lived through the RG administration, I will not be voting for him. He handled 9/11 beautifully - I'll give him that, but he's not a nice human being, doesn't care about the middle class, had no respect for teachers, firemen and cops, and cheated on his wife in public, in front of his children. I do think he has mob ties, by the way, but that's in the past. He did many other things in NYC that were really concerned with benefitting big business, and not New Yorkers. I have no idea who I will vote for though. I'm a Democrat and I think I'll be left with Hillary Clinton as a candidate. I have my reservations about her!
