Exclamation Dishwasher Damage

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to keep the glasses from getting etch marks on them when they go through the dishwasher. The main reason I bought a dishwasher was because I hated washing glasses..I had one too many break with my hand and washcloth inside. But now they are all yukky looking...any ideas besides hand washing them?

Jet Dry seems to help prevent this problem. I had the same thing happening until I go a Bosch dishwasher. The drying principle behind Bosch requires you to use Jet Dry and I've noticed my glasses aren't getting etched anymore.

Hope this helps.

Yes, Jet Dry is great. I used it all the time, but now with the few dishes I use I just hand wash and drip dry. It would take me two weeks to fill up my dishwasher.

We're having an awful time with our water since the flood because our water plant still isn't up and running yet. They've got a temporary plant running. My dishes look awful when they come out of the dishwasher. I bought one of those bottles that you run in your dishwasher to remove the lime deposits. I counldn't tell that it did anything. My husband ended up taking off my upper sprayer arm and we did clean a lot of lime deposits out of it. I don't know how he got it off because I could never figure it out. Every so often I throw in a cup or so of vinegar and my dishes come out really nice. And I put in more Jet-Dry! It's better. At least my glasses aren't cloudy anymore but my plastic comes out with gray water spots.

Sorry, Janet, I didn't mean to use your section for venting. I'm not sure what causes glasses to etch in the dishwasher but I agree with the others about the Jet-Dry. Maybe adding some more would help.
