Think of me please
After many many months of putting up with knee pain, I have decided to have it checked out. I thought once that I started losing some weight, that it might ease up some, but it seems to be getting worse. My two uncles (passed now) on my mother's side had some knee problems and my older brother does too.
I'm finding it hard going up and down the steps in the bus, sitting down or getting up, just so painful. If I'm up walking and working around the house or yard, it seems fine, but if I stop to rest and during the night, I am in such pain. I've tried not to complain about it much here...I complain enough it seems, but if you could all think of me tomorrow morning I would appreciate it. I will be going to my Dr. at 9:40 AM and see what he has to say. I've tried ibuprofen and it does help some, but I feel it's actually just covering up what is wrong. I hope it's nothing serious and that there is something that can be done. Sometimes it is almost unbearable.

Janet, I knew that you mentioned that you had knee problems but I didn't realize that they were bothering you that much. Probably all the cleaning and stuff that you've done have bothered them. You're going to have to let us know what you find out at the doctor. I take Piroxicam every night for arthritis. It's not very expensive and it does help.

I'm not worried about the expense, I have been very blessed to have excellent insurance coverage.

Janet, I have arthritis and if that's what it is, there are some excellent medications for it. Arthritis is not only painful, it destroys the joint if you don't treat it... so I'm glad you're getting it checked.
I have mine in my hands, one knee and lower spine. The WORST thing I can do is to pamper it. My parents families both have it, so I figure in my case it's genetic too. Just a word of warning... do NOT let them put a needle into your knee to check fluid without numbing it or knocking you out. I did that and literally flew off the table screaming. It was worse than any of my natural childbirths.

Janet I am sorry to hear about your knee. There is nothing worse in life than being in pain. My mom had bad arthritis and had hip surguery. Nothing helped that poor lady she was in agony everyday of her life. Her grandmother had it bad to.
I hope the dr. gave you some encouraging news as far as medication and maybe therapy will help. Let us know ok.. Keeping you in my prayers.. |

I'm so sorry Janet I hope everything works out! I know I'm the young one around here but I know the pain too... I had arthritis in my hip when I was 6 years old. It seemed to just come around overnight, and in the morning I got out of bed, stood up, and started screaming and bawling because I was in too much pain to move. Luckily I grew out of it but I'm not in the clear, because the doctors told me it would likely come back at some point. Joint problems run in my family too. My grandma actually just had a knee replacement last week after a couple years of pain. She's bed-ridden for now but feeling much better for going through with it.
I hope whatever is hurting your knee isn't too serious!

My appt. is at 9:40 this morning. I'll be sure and let you all know what he says. I know I will tell him I just don't want something to cover it up, we need to find out for sure what is causing the pain. Thanks for the warning Tink, there is no way I would ever let them do that even without the warning. You sure are braver than I am.

My Dr. told me it is probably the onset of arthritis. He said he could feel just a tad of 'grinding' when he manipulated my knee. He wants to try this medication first. He said there has been some high marks for it and I only have to take it once a day. It is to help with inflamation and lubrication or something like that. Plus, I'm in luck, it's on the $4.00 prescriptions at Wal Mart. I can't remember the name right now, I took the prescription in, but didn't feel like waiting on it. Ricky has to work tonight so I'll just have him pick it up.
My Dr. seemed really excited about this medicine so we'll see I guess.

Good! I'm glad that he gave you something to help it to feel better. And even better news that it's only going to cost $4 at Walmart!!!
