Talk about ornery...
I had a trainer come over because Max doesn't come, sit, etc. unless he feels like it. He certainly knows how! She was wonderful with him and showed me some things. He doesn't like to be restricted, and is stubborn! She loved him.
The past few days, whenever I get out the training treats, Gracie Leigh is thrilled to do it. She sits as soon as she sees the treats. Max - is Max. He won't look at me, goes and gets a toy for me to play with him, and certainly isn't going to be trained! I called the trainer and she told me to ignore him for a day or two. He won't like that. I feel so bad doing it! I hope it works because it's breaking my heart.

LOL Judy, he knows you're a softie and is smart enough to work you down.

Ahhh!! Max sounds like my Maggie, and Gracie Leigh sounds like Bailey.
You've got to show him who the boss is, and as soon as you realize it's not you, everything will be fine.

How funny! He is the boss and will break me down. At least GL knows to listen.

Judy my Chipper has me trained. I haven't done well at training him but he usually gets what he wants from me.

Mine have me trained pretty well, too. It's actually pretty sad. Wish I had time to really train them!!! The dog whisperer is awesome. Wish I could do the things he does.

With the little breed dogs it must be a whole different experience than with large dogs such as mine. If I allowed these 65+ lb dogs to push me around, I and my home would be in sorry shape.
Not to suggest that mine are angels by any means, but they do accept that while Canada is queen of the pack, I am Goddess supreme and even Canada listens to me. If Canada tries to defy me, all I have to do is roll up a single sheet of paper and shake it in her direction and she quickly backs down. An empty plastic shopping bag shaken in her direction has the same affect. For some reason the noise really gets her attention and lets her know I've had enough.

The trainer said that big dogs are so much easier to train than these little rascals.
I caved last night. I couldn't just ignore Max. Anyway, it was creating tension in the house, both for me and between the 2 dogs. After 2 ex husbands, there is no stress allowed on my planet. If I take him away from Gracie and force him to pay attention, he does it. It's going to take a long time - I may just say the heck with it! I'll see. Tink - if I popped a plastic bag near Max, he'd try to get it and run around playing with it!

LOL Yeah, if I popped a plastic near Maggie she'd grab it and try to kill it.
Bailey on the other hand would hide between my pillows for days she's a little lover, not a fighter, like Maggie and I. (Judy, I didn't copy my hearts from you, I have then on YT.)

Judy I am a softie to. Gucci has me wrapped around her little finger. I tell her to come here she runs the other way , lol sometimes if I am a little sterner with my voice and repeat come here now , it takes her a few times for me to repeat and she comes.. lol. I always wanted to get a trainer but never did. I am so afraid if she ever got loose unless I carry a treat she run... God forbid.
With all of her aliments in the past how can I not be soft with her.. |

Chipper hasn't even had any health problems and I still can't control him.
