Wow, last night's primary was SO exciting! I didn't want to go to bed with 8% of Indiana (Lake County) still out, but Brendon had to be at work this morning so we came home around 1.

I was surprised that Obama took NC by such a large margin and that Indiana was so close. Obama now needs less than 200 delegates to secure the nomination.

Do you guys think Clinton will drop out of the race now or do you think she'll hang on? Any predictions for the democratic nomination or even the November election?

I hope its Mc Cain in November (I also hope he picks a strong younger running mate), If I have to pick a democrat I would rather see Clinton than Obama.

I am not really happy with any of the candidates, but, I think I say that every election.

Since, I didn't run for office and put myself on the line, I need to accept the options that we are given.

I don't think Clinton will drop out. I can imagine her starting to move her stuff back into the whitehouse before the elections are even over regardless of having lost. LOL

I do not see her taking NO for an answer.

It wouldn't surprise me if McCain wins simply because he's the only white male running. Poor reasoning, but wouldn't shock me.

I don't think that Clinton will drop out until at least the beginning of June, and even then I think she will be pressured to drop out by democratic leaders.

I don't know what it is, but there is something about Obama that I just would not feel secure with as president - I think the Rev Wright controversy showed that he can be a little naive about things.

I will probably vote for McCain.

I hope neither will drop out. I think if they want the job, they'd better know the facts and know how to get the job done and campaign for it. I'm like everyone else, I just don't know who I would vote for in November. It's so discouraging.

I'm with you Tink about Hillary moving her stuff in before the election. Can't you just see her pushing poor Laura Bush right out of bed!

I don't know if she'll drop out. She may be pressured to. If not - no way!

I'm an Obama person myself, but I honestly think all 3 of them are good. I'm personally against the war, which McCain is not going to end. Other than that, he's a very good man. Hillary has been good for NY as a Senator. But, I do prefer Obama.

Clinton will not drop out I doubt that very much. I cannot understand how people would want her as president. We are in this mess of the war thanks to Bill.

Like Michelle I am really not happy with any of the candidates either. But McCain is going to be my choice. I am not in favor of the war but if we bail out now they will bring the war here to the U.S. By voting for either one does not mean that we are going to end the war..

Obama, all the way for me. I'm afraid of both Clinton and McCain. I don't know what Clinton will do now. I kinda think she will hang on until she is forced out. She's a bulldog!!! fights even when there is little hope for victory. She took the day off, but I heard that her spokesman said she is looking to the next primary. Who knows!!

Enough with Rev. Wright. I think the guy is going senile, and Obama hasn't been around him much since he's been a senator and was not aware of what was happening. I also think Wright is extremely selfish and is trying to take advantage of the situation and doesn't care at all about Obama. He says that Obama didn't defend him sufficiently in his speach in Pennsylvania. My impression is that Obama's speach was very proper in that he disapproved of what the man said, but still loved the man like anyone would a family member with whom they did not agree.

Obama needs to just rise above it all and get back to being Presidential. Bush would let stuff like this just slide right off by ignoring the issue and talking about more important things. That's what Obama needs to do about this.

Sadly I agree.

My husband and I were discussing this very fact and he said when he drives through Chicago there are often people chattering about the elections on the CB. There are a few he's heard several times who he said sound like blacks... speaking ebonics and going on and on about how when "their man" gets in office they're going to turn all
the crackers into their slaves and the whole country is going to see the power of the blacks when they start getting revenge. He said the far-fetched hatred they spew is just idiotic.

It's really sad that there are butt heads in every group and by spouting crap like that they get others arguing with them, and instead of furthering the cause of getting Obama elected, they're driving off voters who otherwise might not have worried about the color of his skin.

Whether he gets elected or not, I think it's going to re-open some race problems. Sad, but people are just stupid sometimes.

I guess I get concerned that people who don't vote for Obama will be labeled as racist even if they can list reasons why they choose a different candidate that have nothing to do with the color of his skin.

You have a very valid concern. SOME people ARE be racist and will not vote for Obama because he is black, period. There are others who will not vote for him because they simply don't agree with his politics, or believe he does not have enough experience or whatever and for them his race is not a significant factor in their decision. It will be difficult to discern an individual's motives and really I don't know that it is anyone's business, if the person is doing no harm. We are each entitled to our own opinions as long as we aren't breaking any laws or hurting anyone else. I certainly and sincerely hope that no one is unjustly accused of being racist because of how they have decided to vote.

I am very concerned about what may happen in areas like Chicago. The very people Tink is discussing who are looking forward to the blacks taking over may riot if Obama isn't elected. How very sad that would be for race relations in our country. One or our daughters roomed with a young black woman at college, and sad to say, the roomate was the one who was racist. And her parents were immigrants from Africa. She was not decended from slaves, but she jumped big time on the "we're so discriminated against" bandwagon and was very prejudiced against whites.

We've come so far, but we still have a long way to go. If nothing else, I hope that Obama brings some of this out in the open so it can be dealt with. Sometimes you have to open up a wound and make it worse for awhile so it can heal.

I have to say that NONE of the candidates excites me. I've been a hard core Democrat for most of my adult life....but of the 3 I like McCain. I don't agree with his views on the war, though, and with an almost 18 year old son who would join the Marines in a New York minute if I gave him the nod....well....the war is a sore subject for me! I don't really like Clinton's personality, and that's a stupid reason not to vote for someone isn't it? Obama seems like a nice enough guy and the whole Rev Wright thing is ridiculous. But, I don't think Obama is ready to be President. The general consensus with everyone I talk to is that it will be Obama and McCain and McCain will win because the country is not ready for a black man as President. And THAT almost makes me want to vote for him just because that reasoning makes me want to scream! Since I don't have a strong feeling for any of them I told my son I'd vote for whomever he wanted to vote for. He is very much into politics and he is devestated that he doesn't turn 18 until 3 weeks after the election. He even talked to our Congressman to find out if there was any way to get around the age problem! (The congressman is a friend of the family). He can't believe it when I tell him that many people don't even bother to vote. Well, I can't believe that either!

The thing about the war....none of the candidates, if elected, are going to be able to bring the boys home right away. It's not a dictatorship where what the President says...goes.

I was leaning toward Obama, but I've really changed my mind. He seems to me...I don't know how to put these feelings into words...too immature, not quite smart enough. That's not really quite it, but as close as I can come right now.

As far as Marilyn's post in #8, I wouldn't know about those points, I don't know him personally and you sure can't believe the people in either camp...they will tell you anything to get them elected. So unless I know FIRST hand...the rest is all speculation.

If the election was today...I would have to go with my heart and gut feeling and that would be McCain.

Well I can't believe I am about to say this BUT... I heard Clinton say some things the other day that I really like and agreed with. BUT she is a Demorcat! I will never vote as a Dem. Never have and I don't intend on starting now. My #1 reason being Partial Birth Abortions. I haven't found so much as 1 Democrat poltician that thought it was wrong. They even tried to pass a law not to terribly long ago that would make it legal. I am sorry but that is so wrong. My family has always voted as Democrats. I know to some that might not be a very good reason but that is the way I feel. So truth be told I will always vote down party lines. Call me crazy!
