Snuggles the BEAR dog?!?!

I got this shocking update today... Snuggles is pretty brave for being 10 months old! Scares me to even think about... especially with babies involved!

Gracie (aka Snuggles) is doing just great. We really enjoy her. She’s good company for the old dog and they get along pretty well. It’s like having 2 three year olds.

Gracie enjoys her pool to cool off in after a round of ball chasing.
She also is now called “Gracie the Wonder Dog” after fending off a mother black bear and 2 cubs that were persistant in hanging around the house. They were there for about an hour and a half and Gracie would go right after the mother. I was real concerned about her but she got thru the ordeal better than me. I doubt the bear will venture into our woods any time soon.

Hope all is well with you.

Carol

Tink that is really scary! I would have grabbed the dog and ran back in the house, like you said especially if she had two cubs! I wouldn't mess with a mother bear!

I'm glad that Snuggles is alright. A mother bear can be very dangerous! It sounds like Snuggles is protective of her family and that can be very important! I love having a dog around that you know will jump in if there's anyone in trouble. That's why we have an airdale.

Haley, the bear had been pawing at the patio doors trying to get IN the house, so Carol didn't dare to open the door to call the dog in. She sent photos of the muddy bear prints on the glass too.

For a 50 lb dog, I'm amazed at her nerve!

Wow, what an amazing story. Where do these people live that there is a bear and cubs in their YARD???? The scariest thing we may have would be a skunk, armadillo, opossum or snake.

Many small towns in Wisconsin are reporting black bears in recent years Marilyn. When our kids were small we lived on 20 wooded acres and we never saw bears in the yard, but had evidence of them in the trees very near it. Different neighbors reported having seen them.

Usually they're not a big threat as they're very shy, but when they have cubs it's a whole different ballgame. We also have coyotes, wolves and recently the DNR has been said to be re-introducing mountain lions to the state.
