So......How'd it go?
How was your Thanksgiving Day? I noticed that there wasn't a thread for this so I thought that I'd start one.
I was so happy because I had things pretty well organized to where I only had to do a few things when I got up. It made my morning so much less stressful. As always I knew that I could count on my husband to make sure that the garage and basement were somewhat cleaned. (I still haven't figured out why that seems to be so important when we have people over because that doesn't help me AT ALL!!) I had bought the biggest ham I could find at the store and had put it in the oven overnight with a probe on the stove to check the internal temperature. I was really impressed with it and I'll probably be using it again on the holidays. The ham turned out wonderful!!! We had so much food and we hardly made a dent in it!!! We ended up having 22 for lunch and later in the evening my son's family came over so we had 27 here, just not all at the same time. We played games and the kids went down and built play houses with blankets and stuff in the basement. Some of the older kids went and rode 4-wheelers. It was a good day!! Remember last year when we had the slumber party with the kids. We got talked into another one but they promised not to wrap me up in a blanket and duct tape me in!!!! Right now they're back down in the basement fixing up their little houses!!! I'm sitting here on the couch with my laptop beside their stuffed animals.....a kangaroo with a little joey and a very worn pink poodle. There's blankets and pillows all over the living room floor and the movie, Cars, is playing but nobody's watching it! Glen made breakfast for all of us and he just left to go and finish harvest. It's been a good holiday and having the kids over just makes it that much more special!!!!

We had a great day - Jim did the turkey while I made the rest of the meal. The dogs enjoyed trying to steal food all day and the people enjoyed each other's company.
Tonight we're going with my mom and some friends to a tree lighting ceremony. |

All in all we had a very good day. I always have everything ready the day/night before so whatever is left is very little work. I was disappointed none of Rick's side came after all the time and love I put into the meal. That's just the way they are. I need to just accept it.
The three of us ate so much food and since I made so much...there is plenty of left overs. Everything tasted so good. I did eat like it was my last meal and was soooo stuffed, but the guys were not moving so fast afterwards either....lol. We all three worked together to get the kitchen back in order. It was pretty easy, because I wash as I go so there isn't so much to clean up after. Then we all took Penny, our Golden and went for a walk down the road. It was sooo pretty out. I think the temp was around 52, but the wind made it feel a lot colder. Half way down the road I was wishing I had worn something over my ears. It was just nice being out walking together. I'm not sure what I want to do next year. I really love fixing it for everyone...(says the one who hates to cook...lol), but I do love fixing the Thanksgiving dinner. Maybe I can talk my family into coming out.

To make a really long (about 10 years worth of MIL crap) story short, horrible.
Glad to hear that you ladies cannot say the same! |

We had a really good day. The weather was in the 40's and sunny all day. I had lots of things done the day before, so I didn't have alot to do. My son stayed overnight, and his girlfriend came the next day. My husband cooked breakfast for all of us, then we relaxed until closer to dinner time. My daughter, her hubby and the grandchildren came over. Dinner was good, everything turned out great and was done on time. We ate and then my kids kicked me out of the kitchen, and they did all the clean-up. While they were doing that, I sat and colored with my oldest grandchildren (4, 6) and played with the baby (4 1/12 mos.). We all played board games while we had dessert, and had a really good time. It was a fun day. I was so tired by the time everyone went home, but I really enjoyed everyone being together.

Well the morning started out that my husband made me breakfast, then his sister and family came over to wish us a Happy Thanksgiving. My FIL was suppose to come but he has terminal cancer and was not up to traveling. So my other BIL stayed with him at his house.
In the afternoon we went to have dinner by my brother and SIL , their children and some of their grandkids spent the day with us. It was a nice day. |

We had a nice day too. I cooked a few things at home in the morning, then went to my daughters about mid morning where she and I finished up the cooking. We had a great dinner and then everyone was so tired and we all layed down for a nap. Hubby and I came home (just a few miles away) and rested. We watched the Dallas Cowboy football game. Then we went back for leftovers and to watch the college football game (Texas vs Texas A&M - we (Texas) whooped 'em good!). Then hubby came home and daughter, granddaughter and I went to the outlet mall at 11:30. I shopped till 2:00 and daughter and granddaughter stayed till 4:00. We had lots of fun and found some bargains too!

Pope, I'm sorry you didn't have a very good holiday. I hope the rest of the weekend goes great for you. If I'd had enough money, I would have flown you to my house for dinner.

Good Thanksgiving here!
For the first time ever , I went out to dinner (resturant)with my mom and one sister only. No family drama. Just a relaxing dinner. Usually it is hours and hours of bickering and fighting... get the whole clan together and believe me it is no fun. Then afterwords stopped at a good friends house for some card games and visiting... had a wonderful day!!! Sadly no leftovers... but I did buy a turkey breast that I will cook up in a week or so with my mom over so we can have a great dinner with all the trimmings , and have enough left over for a few hot turkey sandwiches!!! And I lent out my Nesco Roaster in exchange for some good turkey juice so that I will have plenty of gravy for those turkey sandwiches!! |

Glad to hear you all had a great Thanksgiving!
My parents usually have it at their house. My Dad is sick with pneumonia so Mom didn't want 27 people in her house, incase someone was coming down with something. So, we had it at my cousins house next door to my parents. Mom came up to get their dinner. It was nice but, not the same. This is the first year I can ever remember not being with my parents for the holiday. I did go to see my parents but, it was still sad with out them their for dinner.

Thanksgiving at my daughter's house was lovely. I was the only guest, so it was nice and quiet. I love low key events! My oldest gd Mackenzie was upset because Steve's parents and brother didn't come, and my ex couldn't get off from work. She's used to everybody being in her house every holiday. I feel sad for her.
I must say that I preferred it. No drama! Great food, then we played a board game and then charades. It was a lot of fun. I spent about 7 hours there, and then came home to my dogs and my beautiful house. I have so much to be thankful for. I took about 40 pictures - here's a few
