Bird Watchers
Do any of you have bird feeders? I know there was a thread at one point about hummingbirds. I have those too. I have bird feeders out all year round for other birds. In the winter I put a feeder on our front porch so I can sit and just watch all the different kinds of birds. So if you have any bird stories you want to share
I'm just asking. We have 5 or 6 different types of birds that come to our feeder. Nuthatches, Tufted Titmouses, Junco, Chickadees, and Cardinals, they are so much fun to watch.

We have seed in our bird feeders off and on. We keep it in there and then for some reason, it seems like we forget for a month??? Don't know why. We have little sparrows that nest in this huge bush in our backyard, and they come to the feeder regularly. We also have cardinals and other birds. Unfortunately, we have grackles that come to feed off the trash on the ground and we try to discourage them and they are such awful birds.

I always have my Hummingbird feeders out starting in the spring and ending in the fall, but haven't kept up with the other ones for the gold/yellow finches. I don't really want the others....LOL. I know there is some kind of food for other birds, but then the bigger prey birds watch it and kill them. They leave body parts under the feeder and that is just to gross for me. I know....to much information again...lol

You are really making me miss MN. I had hummingbirds, gold finches, cardinals, chickadees, so many I can't remember them all. At our amusement park we had barn swallows, if that is spelled right, they are beautiful. Had a friend from MN that put a purple martin house in my courtyard and all of the elements are right for them, live on the river and have mosquitos, etc, that has been 8 years ago and have never seen one.

My husband keeps our bird feeder filled all winter so we can watch the birds. My living room window is really big so it's not hard to see them all outside eating. We have so many different kinds and I keep a list of those that show up. I have a couple of books and binoculars that I keep handy to identify them. We usually have a lot of color out there from the Cardinals and Blue Jays but there's a lot more than just those.

I would love bird feeders, but we're not allowed. It's against the law in NYS - it attracts bears. A lot of people here have them and I might just get one anyway.
