Christmas Is Now Over

I guess at our house, Christmas is officially over. I took the tree down and put everything back up in the attic. Have everything back where it's suppose to be and half the laundry done too...lol.

Tomorrow I have to take my mother to her kidney Dr....just a routine visit. It will be the last one until she comes back from Florida. YES....she is going again this year. We all wish she'd stay home this time, but she won't listen.

I also have a family coming for the little chocolate boy. It's going to be sad to see him go, but quieter..lol. I've warned them, but they want him anyway. Then on Jan. 1, the last little girl will go to her new home. Still need a home for the little boy, but I'm in no hurry...he's such a sweetheart.

I can't believe Mom is going back to Florida, I hope all goes well with her checkup today.
As far as that little girl leaving on the 1st goes, I know she's gonna love it in the big city, may even set up a play date with her and my furbutts in the spring....

Mom's check up did not go well. Her blood count is down again so she has to start these shots. She had them before. Her kidney function is now at 11% and the Dr. told her it was time for dialysis...she said no...she wasn't ready yet.

Janet, I am sorry things did not go well with your mother's app. today. Hopefully after your mom has time to think about it she will change her mind and do what the Dr. suggest. I'm here if you need to talk.

Oh, Janet, so sorry the news wasn't better. Is she still planning the Florida trip??? Sincerely hope that she realizes what she needs to do.

Thanks all. She knows what she needs to do, but she doesn't like anything that is a 'hassle.' She considers dialysis a hassle. Someone will have to be with her for at least 3 hours while it's happening or she can go to a dialysis center 3 times a week. She said that wasn't happening. So...it's really up to her. We told her we're willing to do whatever it takes, but it's all up to her. I can't believe she is still going to Florida. We don't have the money to go down there if something should happen. We have jobs that we need to keep so it puts us in a bad situation. She knows all this, but says she's going anyway. She has always been a ME ME ME type person. She's leaving on the 3rd.

Oh Janet, I am so sorry you got bad news about your Mom and that she is refusing to deal with it. She is not an easy one, that's for sure. I know how much you love her and how you would take care of her if she let you.

My prayers for her and for you.

Sorry, Janet. I know that all of this is a big worry for you. With her kidney function so low she really does need to listen to the doctor. Did they explain how all of this is affecting her body already and if it gets worse?

Yes..they explained everything. It's not that she is in denial or anything, she knows what she has to do. But to her...it's not a priority. Right now her first priority is getting to Florida even though we've all tried to talk her out of it.

Also, she is suppose to make an appointment in Florida to get started on these shots that she needs. I told her to call down there now...she said she will call after she is down there and has everything put away. She will always do what she wants.

I just wish she'd stay home and let us help her. There is no doubt in my mind that she will have to start dialysis down there, because she doesn't come back until the last of April or first of May. I don't know what else to do to convince her. While trying to tell her how much she means to me and crying....it still didn't matter.

Sounds like she's just being very very stubborn and wants to live the rest of her life on her terms. It's so sad that she's come to this point. Dialysis will be the loss of her freedom. This must be very very hard for all of you!!!

It really won't be a problem Marilyn (but she is stubborn..lol). It has come such a long way. In her case, she would only have to have it done a few times a week and it would take about 3 hours each time. She is still free to do whatever she wants. That's why I don't understand why she doesn't want to go ahead with the treatment. Everyday you and I are probably seeing SO many people on dialysis and we don't even realize it. I just want her to start it so all the toxins will be out of her body.

A few times a week, and 3 hours each time is quite a committment. It's hard to get around to making an appointment to get a hair cut, let alone something that takes 3 hours and must be done several times a week. I have a friend who was on dialysis for quite some time prior to her kidney transplant, and each treatment made her feel really bad. It's something your mom needs, desperately, and she very definitely should begin as soon as possible, but you should also realize that from her standpoint, this is does represent a loss of independence.

So hope that she makes the right decisions & that she begins the treatments so that she can be healthier for all of you.
