Daffodils

I have my first daffodil bloom! My Mom loved yellow daffodils, so I tore out a flower bed and planted these bulbs a couple months ago. Delaney is calling it my Memory Garden!

It'll be warm soon for you. Hang in there.

I splurged on buying those bulbs. The bloom is huge. I hope they stay out awhile.

I love daffodils!!! It's still a while here before we see any blooming but I know that those on the south side of houses will be opening before we know it. My irises are starting to grow but it will be in May before they bloom. I love irises too. I think that I love them because they remind me of my Great-Grandmother who used to live next door to us when I was really little. She had a yard full of flowers!! I can understand why you have a memory garden.

I like irises and tulips. At least we still have our sweet memories!

I have one flowerbed left to re-plant. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow! I think I'll try roses. I've never planted roses. I'm going home to research that, while sipping a good margarita or glass of wine.

Happy Weekend All!

SANDY! Plant antique roses - they are soooo hardy and require almost no fussing or care. My avatar is a 1917 Mrs. B.R. Cant rose. It is a pretty big bush - like 6/7 ft. by 6/7 ft and I have to keep it under control. It's not a climber, but it can get so BIG! It blooms almost year round, it has buds on it right now and there might be some blooms, I'm not sure. It will bloom all summer (the blooms do get smaller in the summer heat) and until the first frost. It is a cabbage rose, so the blooms are not the "classic" perfect rose blooms. But there are so many varieties of antique roses and they are MUCH hardier than the new hybrids - and disease resistant too.

THANKS Gayle - I wrote the name down and I'm off to Houston Plant & Garden shortly. I need to get some peat and stuff to build up the area where I'm planting the roses, but I can still get my bushes now. I'm excited!

Beautiful pictures!!!

LIke Judy I am wondering about the roses? I highly recommend the Carpet Rose. Bllooms all summer and stay a smaller compact size.
