How did you meet your lover?
I was just curious as to how everyone met their significant other?
I met Peter kind of half-way through a mutual friend. I lived in Oregon, where our mutual friend originally lived. He moved down to AZ and moved in with Peter. Well, Peter and I started talking on myspace, then on the phone, then last Thanksgiving I took a huge chance came down to visit our friend... well, really to meet Peter. Obviously it turned out great as I moved down here at the end of July. So... how did the rest of you meet your lover?

I have to start by saying my brother & I don't get along. Out of the blue he called me up & invited me down to his school for the weekend to hang out & party. I didn't have anything else better to do so I went. I was just coming off a bad relationship & was looking for a new prospect, but I wasnt' sure i was ready to date yet, I was just looking for some attention. Anyway my now hubby was the only guy in the room I found attractive so I went over & began talking to him he focused totally on me & I loved it. He was terribly shy so are first few dates were a little hard to get planned, but my brother helped a little(for tickets to a football game) & we finally got together & now we're married.

I met *my lover* half way around the world on a island in Greece! My sister and I were looking for some people to go out with and we had heard guys voices next door so we knew something was in there! I had actually seen him earlier in the day when his buddy thought we were knocking at their door when we were fumbling to get into ours, he opened it and closed it again...kinda in our face! Haha, so anyways, we just knocked on their door and invited ourselves in and we all ended up going out that night and we were inseparable ever since! I'm moving to where he lives in December!!

In February, a friend of mine had rented a huge cabin in Kimberley, BC, for a snowboarding trip, but people were backing out of going. I told her I would go just to have a fun trip, and also she didn't want to be the only girl! Her brother's friend was going to come, but couldn't make it. His roommate, however, did. My friend liked his roommate a lot, but the first time I saw him we were just connected. Every day I was excited to see him again. She basically told me it's obvious she's not the one he likes, and I should go for him. Well, it took 4 months of him flirting with me before I actually gave in But I'm glad I did!

My hubby and I had class together my freshman year (his junior year) of college. We had assigned seats next to each other. I had the hugest crush on him, so around Christmas time, I finally got up the courage to ask him to a sorority social. He said YES and the rest is history. That was almost 4 years ago now.

Our first date was a "fix-up" by some mutual friends. The friends lived on the same street as my parents. Their house had a street light right in front. Under this streetlight was a '55 Chevy and it was all different colors. I thought "what kind of wacko drives something like that" and I decided I wasn't going to go. When I didn't show up, they called and said he was there and was waiting. I told them to forget it, I wasn't going to go out with a guy that had no taste in cars. Anyway, they talked me into coming over and when I got there I was RIGHT!!! He had on this light blue shirt and brown corduroy pants. The corduroy was so big and thick, he looked like a bear from the waist down. I stayed for a while and can't remember the excuse I gave, but left thinking I would never go out with this guy. Well, he called the next night and we did have a good conversation and he asked me out. I kept telling him no. He finally talked me into going out, but I asked what I should wear. He said just some jeans would be fine...so I thought he would wear jeans and everything would be fine. When he picked me up, he had jeans on all right....but they had 3 inch peace signs all over them. I was so embarassed I wanted to crawl in a hole. Well we just went out riding around the "strip" and talking with friends so I didn't have to be seen out with him the way he was dressed. We did talk when he brought me home and when he asked me out again, I told him no. I did end up telling him why and he did try to dress better. I started buying him his clothes after that for different occasions and he looked much better. I don't know ladies, but I think I should have followed my first instincts!!!!!

I am embarrassed to say tell mine, but here it goes...
My sophmore year of highschool I got invited to the Prom by a good friend. He said we were going to go as a double date with our mutual friend and her blind date from another school. Well, the blind date, Sam, ended up liking me and me him so a few weeks after the prom he asked me out...never went out just went to his house to meet his parents. His mom had Lou Garics (sp?) disease and she was pretty lonely. I didn't shy away from her like they said most people did. I just went in and talked to her as if nothing was wrong with her. Then I met his brother, Ernie, and I knew I had just met the biggest GEEK ever! He had really thick (and I mean really thick glasses!) and he had a tousled look because he had just woke up. He was in jeans and a t-shirt with a flannel shirt and I remember thinking how goofy he looked. That started a daily routine of my going over after school and keeping her company while her husband and Ernie did yard work or ran to the grocery store. Sam was always at work and I never saw him. About three weeks of sitting with his mom and he was sick of me and said he never wanted to see me again. Well his mom wasn't sick of me. I was the only company she got. So the daily visits continued through the summer and into my Junior year. I even stayed over a couple of weekends to help with her care when she got really bad. During this time Ernie had developed a crush on me LOLOL the downside, I was 16 and he was 24. I had not interest in him and didn't know he had a crush. My mom eventually put a stop to my visiting his mom and I never saw her again. She died three months later. After his mom died, Ernie and his dad started coming to our house to visit our family. Mostly because they were lonely and didn't know what to do with themselves and my parents always let them stay for dinner. I think my mom felt guilty about things. So six months later and Ernie finally asked me out, but we kept it quiet because he was 25 by this time and I still had 4 months before I would turn 18. We are now married and have 4 kids and Sam is the idiot brother in law. |

Oh and Ernie said he fell in love with me during the time that I came to visit his mom. He said it was the care and love I showed to his mom that made him fall in love with me.

I met my husband at my own apartment. My ex-boyfriend was coming into town and called me saying he was in the parking lot of my complex-he was trying to get that "remember the old-times" piece of ass Anyway he had his best friend with him in. I almost fell over-he just got back from his stint in the navy (he was stationed in greece) He had a black leather bomber jacket on, dark tan, and the prettiest set of blue eyes I've ever seen! We chatted for about two hours and my ex was totally ignored-we were in our own little world. Two days later we went to dinner and a movie and he moved in the next day. Let's just say we had some MAJOR chemistry!!! Anyway he asked me a week later to marry him. Jaded me I thought he was just coming down from some good lovin' and I thought he was really joking about the whole thing till a few hours later I heard him on the phone telling his mom that he had found the one and we were getting married!!! Needless to say we've been married almost nine years and counting!!! So now every major holiday he likes to tell his family about how our wedding was a joke on me!!!

I was in jail school and my hubby was in peace officer school. Me and a girl named Melissa went to a college bar called Toby's after school one night.
Low and behold, Doug and a friend of his walked in. Since Doug and Melissa were on the same shift, they came to sit with us. It was short and sweet. Out of the 4 of us there, 3 worked in the jail. Next day, I inquired about Doug to Melissa and her immediate response was, "Doug doesn't go out with people he works with." Well, whatever, she had a crush on him and that was what he told her cause he wasn't interested. Not a month after that, Doug and I started dating (when he got moved to my shift). The rest is history.
