Out of whack
Scott came back last week from 3 weeks in the middle of nowhere... he was supposed to get 2 weeks off before flying back up (he is switched out with another girl), since he works 7 days a week while he's there. Well, that didn't quite happen. Since we got word from the main office to start laying people off, we now have too much work and not enough workers. So Scott now has been assigned to another job where he has to be on site by 5:30 in the morning, every morning This job ends next Monday, and he'll have just one day off before flying out again Wednesday But at least this job is in town, and even though it's an early start, he gets to go home as soon as the work for the day is done (around 3:30 yesterday, and he's hoping around noon today)
But this has really put us out of whack with each other! First of all, I hate to admit this, but I felt weird when he came back from up north. It was kind of like I had just gotten used to having all the time to myself, because we barely even had time to talk, and all of a sudden we're just supposed to be back to how everything was. But that feeling went away quickly and I'm glad he's home Now that he's getting up so early in the morning, I wake up when he's getting up and it's hard to fall back asleep so I'm groggy all day. He's groggy all day. By the time we eat, take Layla for a walk, and try to watch our nightly episode of the Tudors (he got all the seasons and we're both hooked!), he's already falling asleep on the couch. He goes straight to bed, and I try to spend some time with Layla and wind myself down for bedtime. We don't talk and laugh and fall asleep together anymore, and I miss it! I kind of feel like my time with him is being cut short before he leaves again, and there's nothing I can do about it and I feel like a toddler who wants to throw a tantrum! I want my time!

Sorry you're feeling out of whack. Here I am wishing Harold would go hunting or to a jobsite for a few days to give me a break!

LOL! @ Sandy & Janet.
My hubby used to work 2P - 12MN, 4 days a week. Then he would often go fishing or hunting on those 3 days off. We loved being together, but I loved that he could go off with his friends and do his hunting/fishing thing. Then...... he got sick and now he is home 24/7 The first couple of years he was so sick, I didn't notice. Then he started to feel better and it started being hard NEVER being alone in my home anymore. I was so used to being alone over half the time. But then he felt well enough to go off for 2-3 days with his best friend and I enjoyed the break. Then his best friend died And since then, he has pretty much been home - if he goes somewhere, I go with him because his health is in some decline. We finally settled in to being comfortable with each other all the time. I have my office that I escape to and he watches TV or reads in the den. We are actually only about 10 feet apart though. We talk a lot every evening, and sometimes I would rather just be quiet after a hectic day at work - but I know that he needs to interact with me as it is boring at home all day with only the dogs to talk to The point is that you can/will adapt to whatever life throws at you. It will take some time, but it will be OK! I know that you know that - so it's all good!

It's simple: Absence make the heart grow fonder and I want to grow fonder of Harold! Every time I'm around Harold's boss, I'm asking him to send Harold out on a project for a few days at a time. It's an inside joke with us!
Since Harold's an engineer, in the oil business, he used to travel to different offshore oil wells and went hunting, fishing, golfing. He hasn't been on a trip in over five years. Yeah me!

Sandy! You GO Girl!!! Hey! I have started taking short trips with my girlfriends - we are usually gone on a night or two and not too far from home. But getting away a couple of times a year is heavenly!!!

In a couple of weeks, Jeff needs me to come up to Nacogdoches and babysit his girls for the night. I actually thought about not inviting Harold! But, since Jeff has 80 acres and some deer feeders set up, maybe he'll stay out "inspecting" all that. The guys usually hang outside when we go there and leave us girls to the house. Of course, we end up outside riding horses or 4-wheelers, bugging the MEN.

Lindsey, it's just something that you and Scott are going to have to work out. With you working so late at your job sometimes it's going to be hard. Both of you are going to have to do some compromising it sounds like.
I understand how you want time. My love language is quality time and all summer and fall that's what I want from Glen, for him to spend time with me. Not just time but quality time. Then all winter when he's at the house working on the computer I get so sick of him and I just want him to go away!!! I guess that there's times that it's just too much of a good thing.

These are the ups and downs, I guess. I have heard that if you are 3 times happier as you are unhappy, it's a good marriage.
I have no idea, after 2 divorces! I had a wonderful relationship with my first love, which lasted 6 years. We were kids, but it was lovely. I guess I was 3 times happier than unhappy. Of course, we didn't live together, and we were so young.

I'm really lucky that Scott has been making it up to me! On Tuesday night he took me out for a movie, and tonight he has made reservations SOMEWHERE but won't tell me where... it's someplace neither of us has been before and he wants us to dress up!

Sorry Judy, I didn't even think of taking pictures!
We went to this little fondue place! Neither of us have had fondue before so it was an experience! We did the whole 4 course meal: salad, cheese fondue, entree, and dessert. Dessert was definitely the best! I chose "Turtle" chocolate to dip strawberries, pineapple, banana, rice crispie squares, and pretzels! After fondue, we went to the book store to stock up on some more books. We just got a new Indigo book store that I've never been in before, and they had an awesome sale section with books from $2 to $6! When we got home we watched two episodes of the Tudors and then went to bed It was a really awesome night!
