Ricky's Car

The transmission went out on Ricky's car one day last week. It didn't really stop working, it just developed a leak that could not be fixed. Rick knew someone that would put a used one in for him and he and Ricky are on their way now to pick it up. Ricky has been driving his dad's Escort wagon....he doesn't like it at all... and his dad has been driving his truck.

Ricky has really missed his car even though he would like to have a small 4-wheel drive truck. Guess it about time to start looking for something different for him, but he'll have to pay for it. He really does need one with less miles on it.

Transmissions cost a lot of money, we had one replaced on my daughters car last year so I know. Depending on the age of the car and mileage sometimes your best to buy another car.

Hope Rickys finds a car that he likes soon and for a great price.. Check Craigslist someone is always selling a car on there. Good luck!

I wish you luck on finding Ricky something at a decent price. My son Eric is in the car selling business and he is not doing very good at it right now.. He said they are selling so high even at the dealer auctions. Hopefully you will happen up on a good deal, they are out there if one can just find them without it being a rip off.

Check out eBay. We've bought 5 vehicles on there, and have gotten some good deals. The latest one was m T-Bird, but we bought Melissa's Jeep Liberty on eBay. It's in excellent condition & was a very good price.

I'm sorry to hear about Ricky's car - I just hate car troubles. That's one thing my husband can't do (or couldn't do when he was well) very well, fix a car. He always wants to just trade it in when it is out of warranty.

That's too bad. There's nothing worse than car troubles, especially when your kids are driving every day to school. I hope that it's an easy fix to get it going again!!

Thanks all! It usually doesn't cost us a whole lot, that's about the only thing we have some luck in...lol. With a husband that knows just about everyone around that deals somehow in vehicles...lol. They put a newer transmission, new water pump and timing belt on it for around $450. Rick knew where to get the parts, plus knew a guy to put it in.

They got it home and it's still leaking. Now hubby thinks that it wasn't the transmission, it's this shaft thingy. It's vibrating and may be vibrating enough to cause the leak. So Ricky drove my van today. I told him to hang on with both hands because driving a van in the wind is a whole new experience.

I hope Rick can figure it out easily, and without it costing too much!

Rats, I hope they get the problem figured out soon! I do not like dealing with car repairs!

Harold got a new transmission in his truck last week. Talking about luck - it was down to 150 miles left on the warranty.

That's what would happen to me or my hubby - we'd have work done and it wouldn't solve the problem - that's why hubby usually just says, "let's trade it in" LOL!!! I WISH I knew someone whom I could trust to fix my cars. Before we moved to Texas (25 years ago) I had a mechanic who was the son of my next door neighbors. I KNEW he was honest and would do only what was necessary to fix my car. Since then, it's a game of chance for me!

My husband is out there looking at it now. My son came in to get a parts store phone number. He said his dad was out there cussing up a storm. I don't know why he gets like that. Such a pain!!!

Oh, Janet, so hope they find the problem and get it fixed very soon!! Issues like this can be so frustrating especially when the vehicle is needed back on the road.

That would probably be me cussing up a storm - well probably not, but I'd be thinking about it

Thanks all. I just don't know why he has to set a bad example for Ricky. Just because things are not how we want them..etc...no since acting like a raving lunatic. Don't get me wrong...I get upset plenty, but do try to control it especially when I'm around anyone ESPECIALLY Ricky.
