How has your weekend been?
I've had a nice, mellow, relaxing weekend so far!
On Friday evening I did nothing but sit in front of the tv and I went to bed really early, and slept in late Saturday morning! When I got up on Saturday I ran to the store for a few extra vegetables so I could make some vegetable soup in my slow cooker for the afternoon. I have so many carrots and potatoes from Scott's aunt's garden that I don't even know what to do with them all! My old roommate stopped by with some mail for my brother and I that had still been going to her house. We ended up visiting for the whole afternoon! I haven't seen her in a long time so it was nice to sit down and have someone to talk to for awhile. I feel that since I moved to my new place I really haven't been getting out much and haven't really seen any of my friends! Last night I ate my delicious soup and turned on my electric fireplace and settled in on the couch for the night My team (Calgary Flames) was playing hockey so I watched the game, while chatting with Scott who was also watching the game from his room up north. The Flames made a great goal with less than a minute left to win the game, but for some reason Scott stopped replying... he fell asleep and missed it! Men! Today I'm just listening to some big band music and cleaning the condo. My grandma and uncle are stopping by later to bring some stuff from my parents (they went to visit this weekend) and neither have seen my place yet so I'm trying to get it looking as nice as possible! Oh yeah, and I also sent in a resume and cover letter to another company yesterday. Scott also applied and already had an interview. They're a huge company with offices throughout North America, and their office here is downtown in a high-rise building. Scott told me the drafting department is spread over three floors, and the building has beautiful views of the river! They seem very friendly and obviously a bit more organized than my current company. Please cross your fingers for me! I hope the rest of you are having a great weekend!

My weekend has been good. Today we took our camper to a lake about 40 miles away and set it up for my Mom and Dad to stay in this week! They deserve a nice few days away, they have had some bad luck this year. Mom broke her leg the day before Mother's Day and my dad has had congestive heart failure for many years, but they have been doing well for a while and wanted to get away, so they're settled in and I'm back home relaxing too. Hope you will have good luck Lindsey with the new company. And I'm very glad you have had a good weekend

Hey Lindsay! Your weekend sounds really nice. I feel like I've been pretty busy. I don't even remember what we did Friday evening, so it must not have been very exciting! LOL!
Saturday we got up and ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Then we had our shopping trip at Academy, I mentioned that in another thread. I ran a few errands, Walmart, etc. I was looking for some kitchen curtains. I bought some new canisters - I have had the same ones since we moved here 24 years ago! Then I needed new curtains because they matched the old canisters. The canisters are paprika colored - I'll post a pic below. I found some curtains and they have the color in them but are a darker burgandy so I may take them back. Brooke says that Lowes has lots of curtains - who knew! I'll have to look there this week. Then I came home and I was watching football and dozing in my chair when my daughter called and asked if I'd come over and stay with the girls while they went out to dinner. Tomorrow is her 33 birthday. So, that was the end of my peaceful day! I had a good time with the (almost) 3 years old. The 13 year old was not as much fun because she was not in a good mood as she is grounded because she got a B on her report card. Now, getting a B is not really a bad thing - but she got it because she didn't turn in a couple of assignments and so her teacher mom was NOT HAPPY! My daughter brought me some bread pudding from the restaurant, so that was really good! Today was our family birthday for Brooke and I cooked chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy and butternut squash. I went over early and we made jalapeno pepper jelly. She has a bumper crop of jalapenos so she wanted to try to make jelly. She'd never done it before. We made 5 jars, it was really pretty - hope it sets up! After I left, they were going to made pickled jalapenos. My post was too longwinded . I tried to say (but it woudln't let me) that the canisters are supposed to look antique. Pix 2 and 3 are of the curtains, but I'm not sure I like them. The last pic is one of my antique roses. With all the rain we've had the blooms are HUGE!

I actually WAS able to put my edit in the post above, but it sounds silly - sorry!

What does jalapeno jelly taste like? I've never tried anything like that before! But I can't handle jalapeno peppers... I'm a huge wimp when it comes to anything hot!
Your canisters are really cute! And I LOVE the stained glass!

Oh, I also meant to say the way you eat jalapeno pepper jelly is to pour it over a block of cream cheese and then scoop up cream cheese and jelly with wheat thins. MMMMMM

Jalapeno pepper jelly is really good! These are mild peppers, so it is not hot at all. You can also make it with green peppers. Also, you can sometimes find pepper jelly at the grocery store with the jelly, maybe not in Canada though. It is made with peppers, sugar and vinegar, so it has a sweet sour taste. It is really good, it doesn't sound good, but it is, especially with cream cheese and crackers!

I should look for that the next time I'm in the grocery store. It might be with the foreign foods!

You are right, it might be! It is a very good dip to put out at a party. We have it for holidays as an appetizer.

My dear friend, Becky, who passed away a few months ago used to bring cream cheese with jalepeno jelly to parties. It was sooo good. She made her own seasoned crackers to eat with it. No time this morning, but I'll have to post her cracker recipe. It's a way to season saltine crackers with oil and seasonings that are so good.
Sounds like y'all had a very nice weekend. Ours was pretty busy. Friday evening, dinner at a friends house, Saturday morning was cleanup day at our church building, Saturday afternoon, hung around the house with Karen who was here visiting. Sunday was worship services in the morning, after lunch we had a mini worship service at a local assisted living center. Sunday evening worship service, and afterward did some laundry and in between all of this, took care of Farmville on FB. That's about it. Now back to work this morning, UH!!! Would love some time off to catch up here at home.

My weekend was pretty quiet for the most part. Friday evening we just stayed home and I watched the Ghost Whisperer. Saturday I cleaned the house and was on the computer for a little bit. Sunday I went to visit my friend who is in the hopsital at Indianapolis. I spent the afternoon with her. Her brother, sister and daughter were there but left to go do some shopping (and to take a break) and I stayed with Linda. It is always so good to just be able to spend time together. Oh we laughed too, but she was in pain so we mostly just talked and knew we were together.
On my way home from Indianapolis I called the guys to see if they wanted to meet in Frankfort for something to eat. They chose to meet at Pepe's a Mexican restaurant. It was so good and I love fried ice cream. Today....back to the bus route.

Thank God for weekends! I had a very nice, very quiet, very lazy weekend.
I am quite relieved that a nice lady who had bought a pup from me a couple years ago came and took two of my doggies. It's breaking my heart that Yankee's gone, but I know she'll take awesome care of him. She also took Libbee. A school teacher came and took Sweetee to be a playmate for his younger puppy he bought a couple weeks earlier. A family with 5 kiddos (ages 22 down to 6) took the last puppy. That leaves me Yahtzee, Fancee, and Tiramisu. We'll make our first trip on the 16th and see how we manage with 3. I had planned to re-home Fancee, but decided it's just too much to let them all go at once. Maybe later!
