Mom Fell
I went to bed early Friday night because I wanted to get up early, get the dogs taken care of, take a shower and then head to Indy with Lynne for the PetExpo. At midnight the phone rang and it was my Mom. She had fallen and was very nervous about it. I told her I'd be right there so I didn't bother to change out of my nightgown, just pulled on some sweat pants and headed to town. The boys were asleep so I didn't bother to wake them up.
Right before I got to Mom's my phone rang and it was Rick. He knew something was up because Joey kept bugging him. I told him what was going on and went on to Mom's. She had fallen around 11 PM, but waited an hour to call me. Mom decided to go to bed and her bed is just a little high and when she went to get in, she slid out of it and hit her head on a box or magazine rack...we don't know which. I gave her some tylenol and then put cold rags on her head. The bump was a good size, but it went down alot. The pain finally quit and she had calmed down. She was doing good and since I need to get some sleep before my day with Lynne, I went back home and was able to get to sleep by 3 AM. I had to get up at 6 so I wasn't real rested...LOL. I called Mom and she was doing really well so I knew it was safe to go on to Indy. I also called my brother to go check on her and he did. Sometimes this is so hard with aging parents. I'm glad (for the most part) she's a strong woman and doesn't let things get her down too bad. Lynne and I had a great time in Indy. I called Mom on my way home and she was doing good.

Janet thank God she didn't break the hip, that is usually their downfall. All ends well and that is what is important. You are a wonderful daughter and you have a full plate, I have been there and done that with my parents and I do miss them so much.. God bless you for what goes around comes around.

Janet, I hope your mom is still doing good today, we've shared many stories and tears over our mother's so you know i feel your pain.
It's was so nice to get away yesterday and be able to spend just a few hour's together doing something that we both enjoy doing.

Janet so glad your Mom is okay! Thank goodness it wasn't any more serious than a bump. It's good that you live close enough to your Mom to get to her quickly.
You certainly deserved your day out! Glad you and Lynne had a good time |

I'm so glad that you're Mom's alright. I know that she probably had you really worried about her after she called. Sorry that you didn't get much sleep but it sounds like you had a really good time!!

Thank goodness Mom is okay from her fall! I feel so bad that you had to run over there in the middle of the night. At least you and Lynne got to go anyway, and that you had a good time.
Any pictures? I'm sending you hugs.

Oh Janet, I am so sorry. Thank goodness mom is alright
Brads grandmother fell about a week ago down her basement steps. She has bad knees that she has had replaced and she has a hard time getting up because she is over weight. She told us she had been at the bottom of those stairs calling out for at least 20 minutes and no one heard her Her min pin was shut in the living room going crazy listening to her calling out! She said she crawled to the bed she has down there and eventually got herself to her feet. It is normal to experience a combination of shock, helplessness and guilt when these things happen to our elderly loved ones. Last edited by pope1982; 11-23-2009 at 09:41 PM. Reason: .... |
