The Weather

What's your weather like this week? We are in the 70's in Austin. I like it better than the 20's we had a couple of weeks ago!

Ours is like yours. But I enjoy the little bit of cold we have in the winter. It doesn't last long

We were at 55 today. I think we are supposed to get rain tomorrow. But the warmer temps are wonderful! Our temps have been way below avg so far so I am happy with a little warmer days

I like the cold too Betis - in fact 70's is a bit warm right now for my taste. I didn't like the 20's, but I wouldn't mind the 50's or low 60's, rather than 70's which feels too warm right now.

We've had a warm spell here lately. All of the snow melted while we were in Nebraska.....and left a really muddy mess!!! My tahoe looks just awful but there's no sense in washing it since we live on gravel roads!! Our weather for today is around 50* but we're suppose to get rain tonight and some bad weather this weekend. I would prefer to just have snow!!!! Sorry, Janet!!!!

It was in the high 30's today, and sunny. What a beautiful day! Sunny days are really precious up here because the winter is usually long and not sunny. We have had some beauties though in the past couple of weeks.

When I listen to the local weather, I still get confused. Down in Brooklyn, the weather was the same all over the city. Up here, they go by counties, there is lake effect snow (something to do with water being picked up by the air from the lakes), and the weather really differs depending upon your elevation.

So, basically, I get snow pretty much every day, at least in the morning. Then, it either snows some more, or the sun comes out. It was 19 degrees this morning, and then heated up. Once I get down the hill onto the highway, and into town, the snow has been cleared and it is warmer.

The good thing is that it is so beautiful in the mountains when it snows. They also do a really good job of cleaning the roads so getting around is fine.

Janet, I hope your ice melts soon! Stay safe!

We have been hitting 38 to 42 degrees and after being so brutally cold this feels like a heat wave and I hope it stays this way , with no snow in the forecast.

It has been way above normal here, with daytime highs hovering around the freezing point, and then dropping below freezing overnight. It's really been beautiful! Unfortunately those kinds of temperatures cause black ice on the roads, and there have been tons of accidents. Yesterday on the freeway, a car lost control and jumped the median to hit oncoming traffic head-on... a 19 year old girl died instantly and a 30 year old man is still in critical condition. Traffic was backed up through the whole city I'm driving very carefully!

The ice is still melting here but we did have school. Paved roads are clear, but gravel roads are still icy and slick. It has gotten up to 40* the last couple days, but feels much colder because we've had some wind too.

They are calling for lots of rain this weekend, maybe even some thunder and lightning. I want spring and I want it now. My bus hardly looks yellow and my van is a dirt color instead of gray. No since washing them...I have quite a few gravel roads and they are wet and dirty.

The weather sure is weird... we had such warm temperatures until yesterday when a winter storm blew in. I wouldn't have left the house if it wasn't for Scott's Christmas party (a little late lol). We called a cab to be here to pick us up at 5:10, but it didn't show up until at least 5:45 because of the weather. On our way home after the party, there were cars stuck EVERYWHERE! City buses weren't even running today because they were getting stuck. Cars and even trucks have been getting stuck in the parking lot all day. The maintenance people haven't done a thing to plow out or snowblow the lot Tonight we'll have to go out and shovel out our cars so we can get to work in the morning.

When I got up this morning at 8:00 it was 48 degrees. It got up to 52 so I opened a few windows and let the house air out a bit. Feels so much better in here. Anyway....now it's 38 degrees. Wish the weather would make up it's mind.....and stay warmer!

I'm jealous!

My brother took 3 hours to shovel out his small driveway yesterday afternoon. Scott went out last night to shovel our cars out, and it took over an hour. This morning there was another few inches covering my car. Right behind my car to one side was a huge pile of snow, probably 5 feet high, so I had to maneuver around that and back through about 2 feet of snow all the way to the main path. I got stuck once, but got myself out of it. Most of the streets haven't been plowed yet, so it was a very slow and slippery drive to work. Thank goodness for winter tires! Cars and buses have gotten stuck on roads all over the city this morning The office is buzzing with everyone's drive to work stories this morning!
