Lightbulb Home-made Costumes?

Ok.. my godson is 2 1/2 this year and we wanted to take him trick or treating this year given that he can walk without falling every 5 mins now and can talk really well. Anyhow. my sister waited til the last minute to decide to take him and now all the costumes at the store for halloween are either too too big or too thick and its still sunny and hot here in Texas, so any ideas on some home made costumes for him?

thanks guys! I know we creative girlies can come up with something!

Here is a site I found that has some fantastic ideas for homemade costumes:

Hope you and your godson have the BEST time! You'll have to share pics of him in his costume!

i made my nephews star wars costumes... it was sooooo easy and they are hyper so they had to be able to move in them... all ya do is drape some fabric strap on a belt and give em a $3 light saber... they LOVED it

You could put him in some blue jeans and a red tshirt and get a blue towel and put a homemade S on it and he could be superman.

i looked everywhere i couldnt find one but ill explain it to you

i went to walmart and got some tan/brownish fabric (it was in the $1 bin) i put them in khaki pants and then draped the fabric over one shoulder around the body and the over the other shoulder and made sure it was loose enough to move but tight enough to stay (i think i safety pinned the shoulders) then i put a belt around his waist. and actually the oldest had a cape .. i just safety pinned it all the way across leaving a flap at the top to hang down..(riley loves capes ) and they put on their boots and grabbed the light sabers... they still wear the costumes everyday and they really do look like jedi!

This may be too hot to wear where you're at but maybe someone could use this idea. MySIL made a dalmation costume one year for my niece and eventually my daughter wore it. She took a white sweatshirt and white sweatpants and either painted spots on it or used permanent marker to make spots all over it. Then she took some little cheap canvas shoes and made spots on them too. Then she took a pair of white socks (not ankle length, but longer ones) and made spots on them. Then she took her daughter's hair and put it into piggy tails and took a sock and put it through the elastic to hold the piggy tails. The socks were the ears!! Then she made spots on some cheap little white gloves (or socks would work) to cover her paws, oops, I meant cover her hands!! She also painted spots on her daughter's face and made her nose black. It was a really cute costume!! For boys you would have to figure out how to have the ears with it. Maybe get a white stocking cap and pin the ears to it.
