caring Vs. "strong"

Why do men feel they have to be "strong" & rarely show emotion even during the tramatic events like death or miscarriage? Do you think this is inborn or something society has pushed men to do?

Although society is changing, boys are often taught to be strong and not cry. Men should show emotion when they feel it, be it in happiness, such as winning a poker game, or in sadness, like death. Baby boys cry when they are sad and smile when they are happy, so it looks like society has an influence on that, at least in American society.

So most men are not used to showing emotion.

Thank you so much for your response. Maybe it is just something we have to keep working together to change. We have changed how woman are looked at by society for the most part. Maybe its time to start changing the way society views men.
