You are so wise Judy...I never even thought about that, I'm sure she would help if she has some extra time.

Guess they want to keep the rif raf out. They do have classes, but it doesn't say how much each class is. I will have to contact them and find out. I definitely can't afford the membership.

When I belong to Curves, I can't remember exactly how much it was, but they took it out of your account. Why can't these places let you pay just by the month and that's it? Would be so much better for some.
I agree with you Janet, they always charge your credit card each mt. I HATE THAT. I like to go and stop when I want to. There is a Gold's gym by me, that is not bad, you pay mtly. also by credit card. To cancel you have to give 2 mts. prior notice. I always start in January and am finished in April. Is this gym by you? If it is check it out.

I have not joined as of yet, there is another place that just opened up by me.. So I will check them out soon. I need that pushhhhhhhhhh. lol

PS. Correction the gym use to be called Gold's it is now called 365 Fitness.

I'm checking things out here in town, but in our small town there is only a 'Y' and a Curves. I am leaning more to just doing it myself. I love walking and as long as my treadmill keeps working I'm good. It has some preprogramed workouts on it. I've never tried them though, I've just done normal walking.

When it gets warmer I will walk outside. I wanted to walk today, but it is so darn windy. Weather guy said some strong storms ares supposed to be head our way.

Janet, is there a college near you and if so, do they offer an extra membership? I know that I can let someone go to my college gym (which is REALLY nice) for only $10/month. That includes any classes they take too. It's a great deal!

Here's what my gym looks like. http://www.etsu.edu/students/intramur/fitness2.asp

Maybe you can find something like that if there's a college nearby.

No, we don't. Well, there is Purdue, but it would take 45 minutes to get there. I'd rather keep it close. I love walking, so when the weather is good I'll take Penny or my son with me and when it's not...I've got the treadmill.

Oh well. I just thought I'd throw it out there just in case. I'm sure you'll find something that's right for you. Maybe even a few home video workouts would be helpful for the winter days?

I do have a Richard Simmons, Yoga, Jane Fonda, and this other one I can't quite remember the name of yet. I'll have to get those out and see if they are something I might be interested in.

Start with a half an hour daily of getting your heart racing along with heavy breathing, that is a fine start!

Janet, don't know how I missed this thread. One of the times that I have been in really good shape, my only exercise was walking. If you have a treadmill and can setup a TV or something to keep your mind occupied while you walk, you can accomplish a lot by just doing that. Once you get used to walking at least two miles a day, you can begin to raise the incline to increase your workout. If you walk 4 miles a day at a slight incline, you can almost eat anything you want and lose weight. At least that was my experience. It's hard to find the time to walk, but if you are home during the day, you could possibly work in some walking while Oprah is on or something.

I enjoy going to a gym and being around other people and using their equipment and going to classes, but the travel takes time and the gym takes money. You can accomplish a lot at home with a treadmill.

Wishing you continued success!!!!!! Diana's post of the desk treadmill setups was very interesting, and may be another option.

I don't really have the ambition to go to a gym. If I lived in town it might be more motivating, but having to drive to town and then back...it's just too inconvenient. I'm planning on walking on my treadmill as soon as I get the puppies out of my room. Probably next week, they'll be 6 weeks old then.

This weekend the weather is suppose to be really decent (40's, low 50's)
so I may go walking outside.
