It's so weird how everything is starting to look. Hubby and I drove to a nearby community yesterday evening in a different direction than I usually travel and you can see where it has rained and where it hasn't. If they got a little rain, the grass has greened up a bit. If they haven't the land is all brown. It's like the rain showers are leaving shadows on the landscape. I would imagine you can really see it from a plane.

WOW! I bet you are right, the landscape would look very odd from a plane.

I bet you could really tell it from a plane!! It's surprising how just a little bit of rain can green things up. I sure hope that you get a break soon. I know that it's a big worry. I really feel sorry for the farmers and ranchers.

Judy, I never though about looking online for drought maps. That's a good idea.

We are having a tiny reprieve from the heat right now. It only got up to the mid 90's yesterday, instead of the low 100's. I think we had 67 (or so) days of temps above 100. So, yesterday when it was in the mid 90's with low humidity, it felt really nice, especially in the shade.

This morning it was 71 - down from the high 70's - with low humidity and it felt so wonderful!!!

I glad you're getting a bit of a break Gayle. I think when it's hot for so long....it really drains us and affects how we feel.

I'm at training this week with people from all over the country. It was in the 40's in Chicago and raining when one of the ladies here left home on Sunday. The one lady I'm kinda hanging out with is from Calgary, Canada, and it's pretty cool there, too. She and I look a little bit alike. We went to the Galleria shopping mall last night, and someone thought we were sisters, we had a good laugh about that one, since we'd only met yesterday.

I'm inside a lot this week due to the training, so I don't know how the weather is in Houston, or at home. It's not raining though.

Marilyn, believe it or not, it is cooler here in Austin this week. It was cooler all weekend and yesterday and today it was only 91 for a high and only for an hour or so. The rest of the day/evening was in the 80's, with low humidity too!!! It has felt wonderful - just like a cool front. It's amazing how just a little temp drop can be so wonderful!!

It was 81 last evening and 65 this morning at my house. Our grass is pretty much toast, but it will come back!

Gayle, I read where lots of trees have died from lack of water, in Austin parks, and they're cutting them down for mulch. So sad.

Yes, it is true, I think they have to cut down about 40-something trees in Zilker Park because they have died from years of neglect, and now lack of water. It is very sad. You can't cut down trees in Austin without a permit, trees are prized here, so it is very very bad.

We've been waking up to the mid 50's and our highs have been in the 70's. So nice. We are suppose to get to the low 80's over the weekend. I love fall weather.

I will say, "I love fall weather" in about 4-6 weeks. So! There is a light at the end of the tunnel!!!
