It's Been A Rough Day!
At 10:30 this morning my sister-in-law called to say my MIL wasn't doing very well in the nursing home. I told her I would meet her there. On my way, she called me again and said that Hospice had been called in. I knew this couldn't be good.
When I got there, my MIL was not able to breath very well. She has cancer and is also on oxygen. She kept crying and trying to scream that she didn't feel good. She can't hardly scream at all, because she is so weak. I tried to comfort her as best I could until my sister-in-law could arrive. She told me to tell all the kids that she loved them and that she thought she was going to die. She didn't know from one minute to the next that I was there and the same thing, when my sister-in-law arrived. She would try to talk and say things that made sense and the next few words would be so far from sense, you wonder how she came up with it. Her stomach and chest are swelling, because of the fluid build up and it really is just a matter of time. At least we think...... They called us in twice a year and a half ago thinking she wasn't going to make it, but she totally surprised us all. She recovered so well and enough that we have been able to bring her to our house for the last two Thanksgiving Dinners. This time....we're not so sure. She is afraid....and afraid of dying. I am so sad for her. She has truely has been a great mother-in-law all these years and I don't want her to suffer anymore. I guess what I am asking is that you pray for my Mother-in-law. That IF it is her time to go, that her fears will vanish and that she will not suffer or be in pain. I know what a great group of ladies we have here and the power of prayer. So if you could do that for me....I would really appreciate it. This is so hard, but while I'm asking.....could you please say a prayer for me too, I really feel I need it.
