Janet, which did you finally decide on after you researched them?
I haven't bought one yet Judy, ended up getting Ricky more things for his Wii game system. But, from what research I did I will most likely get a Garmin. I Garmin was first and then TomTom.

Thanks Marilyn for all the information. I just may have to give ebay another try sometime. It does sound a bit interesting.

I looked on Consumer's last night and those two seem to be the best. eBay is a little confusing - I just glanced at what they have. I'll have to go through it better.

I won the phones! Panasonic expndable with 2 phones. I got it for a decent price
and the warranty is still good for one year.

That's great, Judy!!!! It's always exciting to get a good price on e-Bay.

Janet, if you're going to sell on e-Bay one way to do research is to check the prices of items (like you're wanting to sell) that have already sold. To find this area click on the line that says "Advanced Search" to the right of the "Search"button. It will take you to a page that has a lot of blanks to fill in. On the second line down click the square that says "Completed listings only" and enter on the top line what you're looking for. Auctions that have already finished can be viewed here. Then "sort" by the highest price and find out what they did in their auction that made it sell so well and do that in your own auction. Check out where they listed it and what their description says. I hope that this helps. If not call me when you get ready to do this and I'll help you.

Wow, great information, Diana. I didn't know how to do this. I always search and see what is currently listed to see if they are selling, if so for how much and how they are listed. Did not realize you could search and see completed listings. Learn something every day!!!!

It's a handy feature to use. There are also little things that you can do on your searches to make them a lot easier. Here's the page that explains it.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/find/search_commands.html

For instance....... I look for children's dishes but I also look under miniature, toy, and doll dishes. I can look for them in one search:

(child*, toy, doll) dishes

The astrick means that word and any forms of it that come after the astrick. Child, child's, childs, children, children's, childrens

It's all one search not several. I don't think that a lot of people know this. Also you can also subtract words. Like this:

porcelain doll -new Meaning I want to search for porcelain dolls, but not new ones.

I can also use the parenthesis to keep words together and search the whole description such as (Houston Texas). Only the auctions that have those words side by side will come up.

I'm not too sure how well I explained this but there is the link to e-bay that explains it. I hope that it helps you!!!

WOW! Diana, you are really good at this. It will be awhile before I'd even try selling. All my stuff is in the garage now. When I go through it this spring I'll have to check what I think may sell on ebay. I think it would be fun!

Sounds like a lot of stuff to learn and remember for my old tired brain. I love going to grage sales etc so have found things I thought might sell for a profit, but haven't dared try it yet. lol

Judy, I would probably do a search like this:

(spiderman, harley davidson, transformers) shirt* (long sleeve*, LS) (8, small)

Sometimes long sleeve is abreviated to LS so it doesn't take up too much space. The astrick is in case of someone putting in long sleeves and shirts. Then the 8 and small are in parathensis because of how the shirt sizes might be listed. You would want to narrow your search in the boy's clothing section. Let's say that after you run your search that you have a lot of pj's that show up and you're not interested in them. You can add -(pj*, pajama*) to have them taken out.

I ran a search on e-Bay using the search that I have typed out for you and this is what I found.

http://clothing.search.ebay.com/spid...Q2cQ20smallQ29

Not too many shirts showed up so you could take out the (long sleeve*, LS) and see what would come up then.

Tink, I've found that once I started using the short cuts that it really wasn't hard to remember them. I was surprised when I looked at the page that there were some that I had forgotten about but I don't think that I would use them much any way.

Judy, if you run a lot of the same searches you can save them and not have to type them in all the time. Just click on "save this search" after you have it typed in. To access it just go to "My Ebay" and look down the left side until you come to "searches" a page will open up with all of your favorite searches and you just click on the search you want. I hope that all of this isn't too confusing. It really is easier than it sounds.

Darn, you're good! I did take out the "long sleeves" and found 3 shirts!

I'm going to have to refer back to your example for my next search.

Thank you Diana

You're welcome, Judy. Just let me know when you need help again.

Janet, I was fustrated on e-Bay because I was doing soooo many searches and I had things coming up in my searches that I didn't want so one day I just went through all the different information icons and came across it. It has been so helpful to me and I've tried to tell others but it's hard to explain when really it's very simple. I think that surely there are similiar things to use on the internet too but I haven't ever taken the time to find them. It would be so helpful in searches if they did.

I just looked at my Paypal history for the past 2-3 weeks. I think I've spent over $200! Well - the 200 pee pee pads were $81.00 and the phone was $53.00.

Considering how many things I've bought, that's not too bad.
