I ended up laying on the couch awhile with a blanket. It is just so windy and rainy out and has been all day! Surely it will get warmer soon...even if the forecast doesn't look so good.

The seniors in town put on a pancake breakfast this morning, so Scott and I walked down two blocks to the seniors center. It was lightly snowing huge puffy flakes of snow, but it was so warm! It was really nice. On our way home it was pouring freezing rain! It was like a white-out. Then it went back to fluffy snow. Now there's nothing!
The forecast says it will be back to spring soon... knock on wood!

Oh I am ready! The snow has all melted, and the ground is pretty dry! On Sunday I sat in the yard in capris and sunglasses, drinking a bacardi breezer, and watching Scott do the yard work Layla explored the yard a bit in her wheels and then settled down under my chair for a nice nap. The sun is shining, and it's spring time again!! Finally!

It's supposed to be 96 here today . This is the heat ahead of a front, so it will only be 90 tomorrow and 87 on Thursday . I fear we are in for a very long, very dry, very hot summer. But I guess that's what we get for living in Texas!

Gayle, I feel sorry for you for having all that heat. I heard that Texas is having a drought and is rationing water. Are you having to do that or is it west of you?

We are in a severe drought right here in Austin. We moved into this house December 15th and I have had one inch of rain one time since we moved in. We have had a couple of quarter inch rains, but that is it. I have a rain gauge so I'm sure of the amounts. We are not yet in water rationing, but we will be soon, I'm sure. Since we moved we are on a different water system, so I don't know what our rationing system will be. I don't expect we will have any rain to speak of till the fall. It will be terrible this summer, but I think it will be better this fall and winter. I sure hope so!

Is most of Texas like that? What about northern Texas? I hope to get out of Indiana's winter weather someday.

Well, any part of Texas can have a drought from time to time, it's the nature of our weather. But right now, north Texas has had a lot of rain, espcially these past few days. The rain has been just about 100 miles north of us, on up into north Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, etc etc. There is bad flooding in Missouri and Arkansas. We typically have a wet period, then a dry period, then a norma period, then a wet period, then a flood, then a drought. You get the picture. The next time we may get any measureable rain is likely to be from a tropical storm or hurricane in the gulf.

Droughts for Gayle, severe flooding for Lindsey! We are really spread out all over the map, aren't we? I hope both of you get weather relief real quick!
We're having the usual Catskill Mountains weather...unpredictable! It snowed a few times last week, then we had thunder and lightening and very heavy rain last night and the night before. Yesterday was gorgeous though! I went down to the City. Last time to the dentist, God willing!!! It was hot! I got home just in time. I saw the lightening driving home, and got back just to calm Max down when the thunder started. It has been so close that he has been very anxious. Maybe it will be 70 this weekend; maybe it will snow. Maybe both. I'm wearing flip flops anyway, so there!!!

LOL Judy, you and your flip flops! I never wear flip flops, I can't stand anything between my toes. I wear the croc sandals, the ones with one thin strap over your toes and one thin strap over your instep.

Our weather here has been unpredictable here too. Warm one day and cool the next......today we've been horribly windy!!! If it's windy here at my house up in the trees then it's really windy when you get down to the road!!
I had planned to go out and work in the flower beds but I watched the wedding, then Jaci came over, and then Kera was here to help me clean out my closet.......so I didn't even make it outside. Oh....and we have baby chicks and ducks!!! Damon and Dae Lynn wanted some and I guess, we wanted some.......but I have no idea where we're going to put them because we have no outside buildings!!!! I guess we'll see!! Anyway, I have one little chick that's crippled.......so he's on the kitchen bar with a couple of buddies!!! He's eating and drinking but can't stand up....poor little guy!!! |

It's windy here too. Yesterday wasn't too bad, but today it's very windy and it makes it feel cold outside. I my way to town this morning I saw so many people out on their lawn mowers with winter coats on...lol. We've had so much rain that you have to mow whenever there is some dry time, the grass grows so fast.
I would like to put a few flowers out too, but too hard to work in mud...lol. The way it's going it will be the middle of May before it's dry enough. Diana...I'm so glad you didn't have the chicks and ducks when I was there. I am so afraid of them, can't believe you have them on the kitchen bar...lol. You're going to spoil them huh? What do the Yorkies think of them?

Awww! Poor little chick! They must be happy, living in the house, and getting plenty of food. They are so soft when they're babies too!

LOL! I was at the feed store today and there was LOTS of baby chicks (for sale). They sound so cute when they are all huddled together peeping away!
When Gary and I were first married, we rented a place in the country with a barn. We bought 100 baby chicks and raised them. It was pretty interesting. We had a big line party when it came time to (ahem) put them in the freezer. We had a catcher, a wringer, a dipper, a plucker, a singer, a washer, and a bagger. The whole family came over to help.
