Janet, it doesn't take but 20 - 30 minutes a day or even every other day on the treadmill to start to make a difference. Then you build up and can do more. It may be just what you need to get off you plateau. Those plateaus can be killers on the willpower. Please keep it up. You're on the right track to a healther, longer living you!!!!

We need to figure out a way to attach a laptop to a treadmill!!!!

Janet your doing great!! If I remember correctly you ordered the best life diet book, Oprah Winfreys trainer wrote the book. I have brought it and have started reading it myself it is excellent he gives good advice, if you have it and haven't read it .. do so now. secondly, do not weigh yourself every day , he tells you in the book not to. I weigh myself once a week, and that is too much. The scale fluxuates and you lose water at the start of changing your eating habits. I can't stress enough if you have the book read it, and incorparate excersise into your life. Whether its walking or the threadmill do it for at least three x s a week. That is sufficent, I lost 5 pds. due to my dizziness I had stopped going to the gym, but I will resume on Monday. I cheated these last few days, but so what I will start again, you cant punish yourself if you indulge every so often..

I haven't bought the book yet, just read some on the web site. I will have to go get the book for sure. Thanks.

It's hard for me not to weigh myself everyday. It's such a a habit now. Once I got this heavy, I didn't want to gain anymore, so I would weigh everyday to make sure it didn't happen. It's so funny, that I didn't notice gaining weight. I think that's why I got in the habit of weighing everyday. I'm not letting weight gain go unnoticed again.

I've lost a total of 16 lbs now. I wish it would come off a little bit faster. I started at 238 lbs and then got down to 224 and stayed there for quite a while. Now I'm at 222 lbs. Only two more lbs till I get to my first goal. Then I'll set another.

I'm embarassed to say, but I still haven't gotten on the treadmill yet. I know it would come off faster if I did. But with getting things done during the day, playing with the babies and being on here and YT, the rest of the day just gets away. I KNOW!! I KNOW!! it's just an excuse. I need to get on the treadmill as soon as I get home from the bus route, but I don't. I need to and hopefully I will............soon.....LOL

This is totally sucking BIG TIME!!!! I keep bouncing back and forth between 222 and 224. I can't seem to get out of this little rut. I was outside a lot this weekend digging out snow again and did some other work type activity outside, you'd think I burnt a few calories, but obviously not!. I can't cut back anymore eating than I've done. I'm eating healthy foods, but just not able to lose past this. I will continue though, I'm not giving up. It's just so frustrating.

Janet, As they say "Rome Wasn't Built In A Day". There are a few things to check for when one finds to be "staggering" on the same weight or fluctuating between a pound or two.

One is are you intaking more sodium (salt) than normal?

Are you drinking enough water?

Have you gone to the bathroom regulary (moving the bowels)

Are you eating enough? (this is a biggy. If your body finds that since your diet it isn't receiving enough, it will hang onto what it does have. You might find you actually need to eat another small healthy meal inbetween the one's you already are eating. I've been getting those Special K protein waters and they are really good. They satisfy that feeling of inbetween meals, my body doesn't feel like it's starving because there is protein in it...

Another is don't get discouraged. In a day or so you might get on that scale and find you've lost another 5 lbs.

You've been doing really well with your diet, keep praising yourself. Don't forget to reward your dedication and weight loss. It's important to do that.

I really think you're right, Sheryl. I don't think I'm eating enough. I know when I've eaten a bigger meal, I lose weight. I'm gonna try smaller meals throughout the day. I'm tired of feeling hungry a lot of the time.
